No, Kirk was really shitty that night. Sad but true. I know this might seem like a hyperbole, and I also know it's really, really improbable... But if this is what Kirk can do these days, maybe they should consider getting another lead guitarist. Sorry Kirk.

Ok maybe my ears are broke Nah but maybe the common man is hearing things a little different than us. We do know every song, every note by heart. I wouldn't notice these things with any other band than Metallica.

I'm not even sure if it could work with Metallica at this stage, probably not. But it would sure as hell be cool to hear someone play those songs like they should be, without missing 1/3 of the notes and the wibbly-wobbly timing.

No thanks. I'd much rather have Kirk playing decent with the occasional fuck up, than having someone like Chris Broderick play everything flawlessly. Same goes with Lars really. Metallica wouldn't benefit anything from getting a new player now, had Kirk declined 25 years ago then we could talk.

I think this goe to show the difference between fans who know the tunes inside and out and reviewers, who don't.
Steffan has always been their "rah-rah" girl. That's his job.

Yeah Kirk was awful. Lars might actually be better at drums now than Kirk is at guitar.

Yeah, what the fuck? we all watched it, we all laughed at the intro solo to One and many many more fuck ups. I don't get it. Its like people are to stupid to hear now? That review on the Metallica site, I was reading it and was like, ok, its there site, of course they will say nice things, but they made it seem like this was the best show ever, far from it. It was full of mistakes, mostly kirks, who just seems like he's too high to care anymore. I love Metallica with all my heart and want to see them play awsomly and with fire under their asses, but that show was a fucking joke for the most part. Did someone turn the gain on their amps to 4 insted of 10? Sure sounded like it.
Kirk was a sloppy mess most of the show. The intro solo to fade to black was about perfect though, but through out most of the show he was so off on so many things.
I believe that Managment must paying out some nice bonus to get good reviews. Ask anyone here who watched that night or read all the previous post and you will get the same reply, Kirk was garbage at that show.
And what are they saying in that Metallica.com Review? Metallica made a deal with the Devil to sound that good. Well that was a shity deal?

I only watched snippets of the performance but James's vocals sounded off as usual.

Its like people are to stupid to hear now? Irony. Anyway, Kirk wasn't that bad. Certainly not great or anything though. He seems pretty consistent with how he's played the last few years.

Yeah, Kirk has pretty much leveled off over the past several years.
Sunday's performance was just.....wow. All signs do point to it being an anomaly, though.

Probably just an off night, I can't get upset about that. I enjoyed the show anyways

Yeah, idk... I'm really trying here, but it's like how many of these streams and performances can I watch where it's like "well, maybe Kirk is just having an off night" or "maybe Kirk is sick" or "maybe Kirk is drunk" or "maybe Kirk is high" or "maybe Kirk is cold" or "maybe Kirk's guitar wasn't tuned right" or "maybe the stage lights were in Kirk's eyes".
The dude is like watching a great first ballot hall of fame pitcher out there who lost his fastball and can't last longer than 3 innings. I don't even want to sound like I'm bashing him or trying to make fun. It's legitimately sad to watch at times. I mean the timing is shit. It's like he has no idea how to play any solo that isn't played every night like Sandman, One and Puppets.
I enjoyed the show, but it just seems like Kirk doesn't have it anymore and if his arthritis is as bad as some of the people here think it is, then he isn't fit to play live anymore. If it's not that, then sit your ass down and stay sharp, but sadly it seems like his days of being an all-star ace are long gone. I'm not trying to get a "they need to replace Kirk" discussion going, but if he's incapable to playing due to medical reasons and not flat out laziness then it's a discussion worth having.

Why the fuck are people getting all pissy about there not being a Motorhead tribute FFS? It was never going to happen and the snarky "disbelief" comments are fucking stupid. What, they were OBLIGED to play something? The same way that people were trying to make a big thing out of James not being at the funeral.
Seriously folks - stop expecting ANYTHING from Metallica. If my almost 30 years as a fan has taught me anything it's that there is no point in hoping or expecting them to do anything. Just go with flow, wait for news and/or progress and deal with it then.

Yeah, out of all the things to discuss that "story" is about a 2/10 for me. Some might think this is a lame excuse, but I think some sort of tribute would be more likely if Metallica was on tour around the time Lemmy died. Now it's a couple months later, everyone did their grieving, the funeral is over... and at what time do you let him rest in piece? Now, someone might say "well, James dedicated WITJ to Cliff", well, Cliff was a member of Metallica and it's up to Metallica to keep the memory of Cliff alive and they are the appropriate people to do it. It's not up to Metallica to lead the way and wave the Lemmy flag and every time an idol of their's or someone close to them dies because then you'll be picking and choosing who gets a tribute and who doesn't.

Yep, I think the only way a tribute song would have been played on stage is if they were playing a gig the night they heard he had passed and pulled out Overkill

Anyone who posts the sentence "Surprised/Disappointed/Shame/What a cop out.. that they didn't play a Motorhead song as a tribute". Or any variation of that that includes surprise that Metallica didn't do something that the poster thought they would/should do.
