Great performances, but hey there's this album that came out 8 years ago that's pretty good. Holy shit, I can't believe it's been that long.

I particularly liked it when I realised just how much douchebaggery goes on on MetForums. Some utter fuckstains over there.

Just lots of the ususal shit about hoping people are well/trying to make drama out of nothing. I particularly liked it when I realised just how much douchebaggery goes on on MetForums. Hey guys, I am the thorn within. This is my first post here. I lurked around the old boards for a while, but waited until this new one came out to make my account. Which I have now. So I went to this concert last night, and it was great. Here are some notes I have to say about it:
-This was my first show, so I didn't mind the predictable setlist, but I can see why others had dismay about it. -The lightshows were great, especially Fuel and One. -Do they still play The Memory Remains often? I didn't expect to see that one live. -I really wish I got something from Death Magnetic. -During Kirk's solo in Battery, I heard teases of The Thing That Should Not Be and Hero of the Day. I don't know if that means anything, but maybe those are hints for some things that could be played on an upcoming tour... (Nah, I'm just being hopeful. But he DID play those riffs. This I swear.) -Lars said in an interview that they recently started playing The Unforgiven II, Disposable Heroes, and King Nothing live last tour, as if to hint something. King Nothing was played live.
A great show nonetheless.

I wonder if James, Lars & Rob have Kirk in their monitors. I wouldn't want to. His timing is way worse than Lars.

I just heard the show and my god... I love you Kirk, but that was horrendous and he should be embarrassed if he has any pride in his work at his age. Kirk continues to be the guy in the band that seems to put in the least practice and just shows up after not playing these songs for months and just slaps on anything.
I mean, holy fucking hell. People give Lars shit and say he needs to practice, but he was on his game all show. I don't know what's up with Kirk. He's one of my favorites of all time, but he just comes off as the laziest member in the band both live and in the studio where it's *doodledoodledoodle* okay there's my solo. Cheer now.
Kirk, you're better than this bullshit. Stay sharp before you get on stage or stop performing.

Perhaps he was sick/drunk? I dunno, but his performance last night was pretty disgraceful. There has to be a reason for it.

I'm always quick to criticise Lars because the problem isn't his ability, it's his decision making. He chooses to do random fills at inappropriate times over keeping the steady beat....so he's fair game.
But Kirk - if he makes mistakes you know it's not his fault. He has arthritis, he's playing hard leads, he's getting on in years.........we should just enjoy that he's still going.

Weird stuff going on, I've just read about 5 reviews, everyone had Kirk as the MVP of the night... I don't get it ?
Even Steffan wrote this: before Kirk quickly produced another blistering solo (his second of the night)…a word about Kirk and his guitar these days. They seem to be enjoying a second honeymoon! He is quite simply playing better than for a good decade to these ears, and the actual solos themselves are the work of someone who is absolutely reborn as a guitarist.

So it would seem... But... Of all the reviews I just read, they all said the same thing. Da fuk It's stuff like this: The screeching riff that dominates the song’s introduction was just one instance where guitarist Kirk Hammett was allowed to take center stage during the evening. Hetfield typically rules Metallica’s live presentation, but all night, Hammett continued to steal the show. At 53 years young, Hammett was somehow crisper than he’s been in recent years, flawlessly knocking out every intricacy packed into a set that could have been written a quarter century ago. The crescendo -- of both Hammett’s display and the show as a whole -- came during the hammer drop of “Master of Puppets” followed by “Battery.” That was from the Billboard review btw
