I made this topic on the old MetBB (RIP) and it was actually a lot of fun, so I figured I'd try it again here. For instance, Jump in the Fire was the 3rd or 4th Met song I ever heard when I was a wee boy, so I always thought it was one of their biggest songs for years until I was 16 and joined MetBB. I was shocked that it wasn't played live for years and years. I also thought the opposite about Creeping Death for a bit. I figured since it was near the end of the album, no one really knew it too much.

I'm shocked no one seems to like Don't Tread On Me. I like Don't Tread On Me. I wish they played it live more often, and the other Black album songs they took the time to learn, rehearse and play on the anniversary tour. But the masses want Fuel and One and Unforgiven and Roam and Battery OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

It's a skip for me, it works well live but it's quite boring, it just plods along without going anywhere. The riffish thingy somewhere towards the end is pretty cool though.
OT: I can't remember how I felt when I first heard certain Metallica songs. Actually I can't remember what I had for dinner two days ago.

Don't Tread is awesome. I love that little growl after the solo.

The intro always sounded like this Broadway show tune though, can't put my finger on the tune at the moment, I'll try to find it. You all know it I'm sure.

I remember when my brother was just getting into Metallica, he had Master of Puppets and really liked "Battery". This led me to think that this was one of their super popular, undroppable live songs played at every show. Then at school a friend of mine, for reasons still unbeknownst to me, had the Cunning Stunts box with him. I looked at the back and was stunned that "Battery" wasn't there, and I told my brother when I got home that there was a show where they didn't play it. I don't think he gave much of a shit.

I like Don't Tread On Me a lot more than hearing TBA's Sandman, Nothing, Roam, etc over and over

I believe Tread was actually a radio single. Not released as one but I heard it played on rock radio through the years.

Misery bass intro really gets me....I close my eyes and feel like I'm in the early 90s. It's quite haunting and sad

Misery bass intro really gets me....I close my eyes and feel like I'm in the early 90s. It's quite haunting and sad Jason? Is that you? Had a weird dream about Newsted last night, that I had met him and he went off the deep end. He didn't say hi back, and he would only talk about his new music, and it was basically a rip off of a cross between Justice and TBA, not too bad (new music though, it was weird, because it was vivid as fuck, I'm hearing crystal clear new music in this dream, wish I could have remembered it) and at one part he said, 'yeah, I just won right there. I just won.' I cringed and thought this mofo is GONE. I woke up, believing the dream for a little bit, like I had really channeled what is going on with Jason out there.

Wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it's one of the best songs they've done since Rob joined. I tend to see the latter half of the song get criticised, but I think it flows really well.

I love it. Sometimes the drumming bothers me a bit but everything else is ace.
