I wonder if it's the type of strings he's using, maybe they're get out of tune really quick based on how he plays. That's the only logical thing I can think of instead of that his guitar tech just gave up and doesn't care anymore.

Thing is, Kirk will do a guitar switch in the set, new axe with brand new strings probably, and the first note is out of key. I just don't get how it's possible. New strings is always a little out of tune in the beginning, if you don't, ah I don't know how to explain in English, all you guitar players know what I mean. You have to pull them to away from the the fretboard a couple of times before locking them onto the guitar. Surely Kirk's tech must know all the best ways to avoid out of tune strings. |

It's because he's so good on guitar that he has his action 6 inches above the fretboard, so when he frets a note he puts the guitar out of tune. A small price to pay when you are so good that you have to make playing guitar more challenging, to get anything out of it.
