In light of this special day I want to start a topic on weed.....or more importantly, the dangers of synthetic weed. So many people end up permanently fucked up from one puff of this shit it's unreal. ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-895582This is the type of shit that needs to be outlawed, not weed. Never heard of anyone getting permanently brain damaged from a puff of weed. In fact, the benefits of this drug seem to be limitless.

Aye if they had run of the mill, natural grown grass, in cigarette packs, regulated and taxed then this sort of shit wouldnt happen.
Terrible really.
There's this thing in the UK called Spice that is known as the zombie drug
couple of puffs and he's fucked immediately

I'm loving legal weed it's been a big win for us. Spice and K2 or whatever they are don't sell here nobody wants synthetic when you can have the real thing, it's so much better. Looking forward to sparking in a couple hours, big 420 fest today. 😉

I hate stoners, and don't think weed should be readily available for any one who wants it. Like any drug, it can ruin lives.
With that said, I don't think it should be illegal and people should be allowed to smoke it in their own homes if they wish.
Yes I realise this is a contradiction.

This is something I feel pretty strongly about.
First of all, I certainly wouldn't say it has limitless benefits. Some people are becoming a bit overeager to portray marijuana as a miracle substance. That it has many benefits for sufferers of chronic illnesses is indisputable. That it is a far better alternative to prescription drugs in some circumstances is absolutely true. Equally true is that it can exacerbate anxiety symptoms and trigger psychological problems for those who are predisposed to such problems. As with most drugs, I suspect, it can also fuck up brain development in children and teenagers. Like anything, people can develop a dependency towards weed which, although not the same as a biological addiction, can still be ruinous.
If it's respected and used appropriately and in moderation, it can be amazing. Personally, I'm all for legalising weed, but I think that needs to go hand in hand with education about it. I feel the same about most drugs. Being in Australia, I'm not sure if this is what's happening in places where weed is legal; I'm just saying that's what should be happening.
My wife and I have been smoking/vaping/injecting(jk) weed for years. Partially for chronic illness, partially for recreation. I don't like the weed culture and the stereotypical view of stoners, but I do strongly believe the stuff has some really good benefits if it's respected and used appropriately. Respect is important though I've experienced its "darker" side and it's really not a nice place to be.

Elaborate on the darker side please Se Belbies. I'm not SeBe but I can answer this. Like any drug, weed can have a few downsides. Similar to exercise, food or sex......weed does have a pleasurable effect and although it's nearly impossible to be chemically dependent on weed, people can and have had a mental dependence on the stuff. Also, it has been shown stunt mental capacity if someone starts smoking too much too young. There has also been tenuous data that seems to suggest if someone is predisposed to schizophrenia, smoking weed can somehow jump start the illness. So basically, instead of developing schizophrenia at 25 they'll develop it at 20 if they dabble in pot. It can also exacerbate anxiety symptoms like paranoia. I know I can only smoke a joint or two before I start wigging out thinking the cops are about to bust in the door but if I do it in moderation, it can be a pleasant experience. Like most things, moderation is the key with pot.

I see nothing wrong with smoking it on the weekends to wind down like some people do when they go out to bars or whatever. I also know it helps a lot of people out when it comes to health problems.
On the flip side I've seen many people that try it once and over time just start planning their whole lives around getting high and they become some of the most lazy/stupid people you could ever meet. But then again some people go extremes with many things in life so it's hard to really blame that on the drug. Hell I saw a documentary about a person that was addicted to eating toilet paper, so yeah.
Like Oren said it's all about moderation, and I think that Marijuana's positives outweigh it's negatives as long as it's used responsibly.

Weed is good. Legalize worldwide.
Yes, it ruins some people's lives. So do cars. And sex. And food.
You know what's good? Smoking weed. Then having sex. Then driving out to eat some food.

I know people that have struggled with weed. Some people I don't like being around when they are stoned. I also don't like the 'stoner mentality' and the grubby kids with their cut off hose stuck inside a plastic bottle, getting wasted all day without a single care about employment and their future. So it will probably sound strange to then say I've smoked cones since I was a teenager. I will probably have a pipe tonight at some point when the kids are in bed. I completed high school at a high level, did an apprenticeship, multiple tertiary education (the tough ones while raising a family and working) and I've worked all my life (often with very professional individuals). I've managed this plus always keeping myself busy with projects and family commitments without feeling the need to curb or watch my weed intake. Bottom line is we are all different and weed is going to affect us in different ways. I know some clever people that just can't deal with getting high unless they know they are free from all responsibilities for the day/night. Others can get bent before talking to peers without it impacting on the conversation. Maybe more relatable to Aussies but I come from a time when it was pretty much accepted that you were stoned driving around with your mates because you were tonight's designated driver.

Elaborate on the darker side please Se Belbies. I underestimated a batch of space cookies. Couldn't remember who or where I was. As in I could not picture my house (even though I was in it at the time) or remember my date of birth or name. I literally thought I was losing my mind. I can't describe the horror that confronts you when your very sanity feels threatened. I experienced pretty bad dissociation/depersonalisation for a couple of days afterwards too. That may have been the symptom of the panic though.
