Absolutely beautiful pictures.
Do want. Although it looks like they don't ship things to the United States.
Or am I wrong?
Edit: I found it, nevermind. Thanks for the link good sir!

Excellent stuff and I understand the point completely of removing the remoteness by making it more palpable and something that could happen today. The first sentence is clumsy and arguable though.

Whenever I see color pictures of WW2 it makes me think about how terrible it must have been to be in wool uniforms for days/weeks/months at a time. A friend of mine participated in a Canadian reenactment group and told me the uniforms were annoying to wear because of how itchy and hot they were.
Imagine fighting in Northa Africa while wearing that. Christ.

Whats going on in the photo with the red partitions - makeshift recovery room or something? Looks like a set for a play
Also that lady on the right with the bowsaw is not helping at all. More effort or its back to black and white for you!
Pretty cool pics

I can't wait till my copy arrives. As a WW2 nerd, I live for this stuff.
BTW, the Imperial War Museums in London are incredible. The people that run them do great work.

this is great. I teach WW2 every year. The photos really are excellent. Might have to arrange a trip to War museum as I suspect HoP will be out of the question now.

Where I live there are shit loads of pill boxes still in fields and along the coast Awesome! The only things like that around my area are in Delaware, they have a few lookout towers that were used to spot U-boats and a small fort. The towers.

Fucking hell it's itchy, had to wear a thick coat and stiff trousers like that for 35 hours straight each time I stood guard at the queens palaces. Try sleeping in that stuff or wearing it outside in 35 degrees Celsius

Was watching WW2 Apocalypse on National Geo last night, I learnt a new thing called Holocaust by bullet... Made me sick to my stomach. A German arrived alone on a motorcycle. He rode around the village. Everyone wondered why. It turned out, he was planning the site of what would become Rava Ruska's Jewish mass grave - Father Patrick Desbois, Catholic priest only 70 years ago

I went to the secret nuclear bunker today, where they would have taken the prime minister et al in the event of a nuclear war. An unassuming farm house near Brentwood in Essex. What a depressing state of affairs that was. The installation goes 3 stories down into the hill side. When you go in you pick up a sort of phone that tells you about everything as you go through. As you enter you travel down a 100m tunnel that takes you 100 ft beneath the surface. When you get to the end the narrative on the "phone" tells you that the primary reason for the tunnel was to create a shooting gallery to easily make quick work of any survivors that may have forced entry into the farmhouse facade above. The blast doors into the facility are just beyond the tunnel. Inside it was totally grim. Stale air and cramped conditions for all 600 personnel. They told you of how the people outside had zero chance of survival, and that anyone not dead the police were instructed to systematically execute them with hand guns. Even those inside, if they managed to survive the 3 months, minimum, before they ventured outdoors, they stockpiled cyanide in case the entrance had collapsed. Nothing about it seemed worth the effort, really quite an eye opening or rather horrifying day out... Some more here www.vice.com/en_uk/article/a-day-out-at-the-secret-nuclear-bunker-essex-591
