the show should of looked into the meaning of 'The God That Failed' and not just the title.
it's about Christian Science, the faith of James parents. Christian Science is not Christianity.
they do not believe Jesus died on the cross for the sins of mankind and don't believe that there is such a thing as
sickness or illness. from what I've read James mother was diagnosed with cancer and didn't seek treatment.
because she believed there was no such thing as illness, there was nothing to cure.
I wish the program would of looked deeper into why James wrote 'The God That Failed' because the
God of Christian Science is very different to the God of Christianity.
also they've put the lyrics up against the video for Until It Sleeps?? is that what the video is?
I haven't seen that video in years, I'll have to go watch it again.

Seriously, though, the whole moral panic of the early 80s, where Heavy Metal was accused of being Satanic, is a fascinating piece of Rock history. I mean you had bands like Judas Priest testifying in court while accused of instructing fans to kill themselves through backmasked/subliminal messages.
And don't forget the 3 Metallica fans in West Memphis, Arkansas who stood accused of raping and killing 3 kids. It was a real kangaroo court affair, but part of the prosecution's case hinged on the trio's taste in music and using it, among other pieces of 'evidence', to paint the boys as completely immoral and degenerate. Of course, this case did happen in a backward backwater quite a while after the Satanic Panic had dissipated in other parts of the country. I guess the people in West Memphis hadn't yet gotten the memo.
