In case you missed it, it was shite.
They should have changed the format. Chris Evans was literally trying to emulate Clarkson.

I'm about 10 minutes in - it's like Chris Evans is trying to talk like both Clarkson and Hammond. Right now as I write this he's introducing this Top Gun scene and I'm cringing,
There's no new format, it's the same show with new people pretending to the people they replaced.
I'll give it the whole episode to form my final opinion, but it seems really lame so far.
EDIT: This Evan prick is driving me crazy. Stop yelling you idiot.
Matt Le Blanc just spoke after the Top Gun scene and it was like he was reading off a TelePrompter, then did a Stig introduction ala Clarkson.
Now Evans is updating the Lap Time board drumming up excitement like Clarkson, but no one gives a shit.
This is awful. I'm out.

I actually thought it was alright.
Matt is great and Chris does need to settle down a bit.
It's only the first show though. Give it time.
It was like one of the previous teams mid-series boring episodes really.

Yeah, can I just read you something from Top Gear magazine? No, it’s alright, I’ve got it here, I’ve got it here.
“With a mere ninety break-horse-power available, progress is too leisurely to be called fast, but on the motorway in fifth gear the Megane’s slow pace really becomes a pain. Uphill runs become power-sappingly mundane, while overtaking National Express coaches can become a long, drawn-out affair.”
Not my words, Carol. The words of Top Gear magazine.

Am watching now, I'm having a hard time not turning this shit off. It's so embarrassing to watch, Evans is completely over the top and Joey is just plain boring. I can't believe they are using all the old stuff, like the way they introduced the stig. It's horrible. Fuck it, I'm turning this off, I can't stand his annoying voice.

Top gear in that format will exist again in a few months on Amazon. They needed to make it new, but noooo... pandering to BBC America etc...

Cut to one year from now and everyone loves the new show. If that's true, it will be because it's different to this first episode. The only way this show will succeed is if they let these new guys develop their own personalities and chemistry naturally, instead of trying to emulate what the past hosts did, word for word in some cases. It's probably not even their fault - they probably have been given a strict mandate to stick to the scripts that they've been given. Maybe no one told the writers that they have new hosts? Right now, it's super forced and cringey. I won't be watching it again.

I will because I was sick and tired of Clarkson and Hammond. I wish James May was on the new Top Gear.
I don't really get why people are so against the new Top Gear since Clarkson, May and Hammond will carry on with their own show and Top Gear will continue with new guys.
You can literally have the best of both.

It's bollocks... Like yepsure said, let them express their own character instead of taking someone elses upon them, it's ridiculous. They have the chemistry of a graveyard.
I would certainly be willing to give it a chance if they had developed a new show and put some thought into it, but they didn't. I hope the Clarkson show annihilates it and I hope they take the piss out of the new Top Gear. I'm not watching anymore unless the show changes drastically, which it wont.

Ha. Says the guy who's never watching it again after one episode. Yeah, I've watched it and decided it's not for me. Seems like a reasonable stance to take. This is what you have expressed: - There is only one reason why someone would dislike this Top Gear: because it doesn't have Clarkson, Hammond and May. - Therefore, it is incomprehensible to you that anyone could dislike this new Top Gear, because Clarkson, Hammond and May have a new show out. Both of these points make no logical sense.

You can literally have the best of both. That was the plan. But old Top Gear is now called Gran Tour (or something) and is on another channel. We don't need Two Top Gears, one of which is a cover version. This is why it is shit.

Who's idea was it to hire Chris Evans? He is one of the most hated people in the UK. Evans is already odds on to get sacked after airing just 1 episode lol.

The problem is - Clarkson will see this as - he was warned about being a racist thug on Top Gear and upsetting foreigners. Instead - he punches a producer and gets hundreds of millions of pounds and his own show.
He's gonna see it as getting something better by doing exactly what the hell he wants.
He's not gonna learn that being xenophobic and violent is a bad thing.
