Chinese Democracy is brilliant. Certainly as good as either of the standalone Illusion albums (perhaps better). No way, it's easily their worst album, there's no good songs on it. Use Your Illusion I&II are amazing albums, in another league.

Better Street of Dreams There Was a Time Catcher in the Rye Madagascar Prostitute
All amazing songs. Then you factor in the likes of the title track, "If the World", "I.R.S.", "Sorry", "This I Love" and you've got a strong record right there. "Riad" and "Scraped" are the weakest tracks, and they're not exactly terrible.

Cradle of Filth - everything after Midian

Cradle of Filth - everything after Midian They've had their ups and downs since Midian (their best album imo). Damnation and a Day most definitely a disappointment. Overambitious and under written. I liked Nymphetamine a lot though, loads of great songs. Thornography was a bit of a mixed bag. Godspeed and Venus dragged a lot, though there was some strong stuff on both ( Godspeed in particular). Manticore was quite forgettable, whilst Hammer was pretty good.

The new Metallica. I had high hopes because DM has potential plus you hear them in interviews correctly identifying the flaws in their post-TBA output. But they never fix anything. They still are incapable of trimming down unnecessary sections and refuse to cut the mediocre tracks out. The second disc only has one good song (the last one), the rest is uninteresting boring songs like the worse ones on Reload. The title track is embarrassing, Moth and Atlas belong to shite like current era Machine Head, and Lars and Kirk continue to phone it in. i kinda agree with this even though i like HTSD. it still has the post-tba problems and they clearly know what those problems are so what gives? i think they need a producer to discipline them like bob for TBA. there's no one there to say this song is kinda shit, or this whole section is boring. i think james said lars is the one who keeps wanting songs to be longer so it sounds like they make compromises which maybe results in a more diluted product? and when they supposedly had like 1000 riffs or whatever, it makes me wonder how manUNkind and murder one got made. really?? 1000 riffs and those ones got used? if those riffs got picked because they are the cream of the crop then i do not want to hear the unused ones. but moth is fucking amazing dude.

Midian is just brilliant, so many catchy hooks and melodies. I was a bit let down by the production of Cruelty and the Beast when it came out, but it still had a lot of great songs. As silly as Cradle of Filth were up until Midian, they were still awesome and unique, where as after they just seemed like a bunch of random guys in silly outfits with Dani Filth trying to use every last word from his Victorian Gothic thesaurus.

I do agree, I think there was a different vibe to the music up to and including Midian (probably up to Bitter Suites actually). Can't quite put my finger on it, but from Damnation onwards it hasn't felt the same. Something to do with Paul Allender becoming the prominent songwriter maybe?

I'm pretty sure that if HR had an album, it would suck.

I prefer lulu over Chinese Democracy too. Easily. Chinese Democracy is brilliant. Certainly as good as either of the standalone Illusion albums (perhaps better). I'm not suggesting Chinese Democracy is shit. Its not my favourite GNR but it is good. Street of Dreams irritates me though, Axls such a whiny bitch on that one. But from first hearing The View, I really really like Lulu. Not many people I know feel the same (bit like the forums) but thats OK, its not the type of album to listen to as a group anyway. Between the 2 albums, on a deserted island scenario, no contest, Lulu.

I've enjoyed all of Megadeth's albums since The System Has Failed.
Dystopia however sucked balls.

Dream Theater: The Astonishing comes to mind.
Actually, so does their self titled 2013 album.

Some of Tupac's posthumous releases have been a bit ropey. Until the End of Time is the exception.

Dave had already achieved on Endgame what he tried to do (again) on Dystopia. It's a pretty uninspired effort, with a few bright spots here and there.
On Metallicanatic's point, I agree. The Astonishing is awful. The worst LaBrie-era DT album by far. And I don't like Systematic Chaos at all.
Chinese Democracy is awesome. That is all.

I actually don't mind Systematic Chaos. Sure, there are a few crap songs, but I'd put In The Presence Of Enemies pretty close to the top of my GOAT DT song list, with Ministry Of Lost Souls not being far behind.
