My first Metallica gig was at the Ruisrock festival in the July of 1999. The one-day ticket cost 180 FIM (Finnish markka), which would be around 40 euros today. In addition to Metallica, I saw a plethora of other bands, including Sentenced, 69 Eyes, Blondie and Apocalyptica. It was a good deal, I'd say.

The first time I saw Metallica was 2,5 years ago at a one day festival called STHLM Fields with this lineup: The ticket was 995 Swedish kronor, which would be around $117 today.

I saw Metallica in '88 and paid a whopping $14.00 (wish I had kept the ticket stub). Saw them again in '92 and paid $35.00!! only four years later and the price skyrocketed. in 2000 I went to see AC/DC and it was $85.00 for shit seats....

First time I saw Metallica was on the DM tour lol. I was like 13 or 14. My mom got 2 tix for my birthday, we were up in the nosebleeds. I think they ended up being like $80 a piece after fees.

I'd have to look back at a '91 or '92 ticket, it was probably around $22.00 and that was for an excellent seat within 50 feet of the stage. I saw the pricing for the U.S. first leg of this tour and I just won't pay that top level or the second level, I choose not to. If I go, it'll be the inexpensive ticket. I'll be in the arena, I can see and hear them fine from wherever.

The whining over at the official boards is chronic. That place has gone completely nuts after the US tour announcement. It's a madhouse now. [cue Anthrax]

Not forgetting in any particular order:- limo, Lars pet shark, ballet lessons, golf cart to be driven from dressing room, pyros, show sec to bash moshers, gas flames, revolving drum kit, numerous guitars, wardrobe, someone to pull on Lars socks, gated mansion, private security, food, 5 star hotels, replace smashed signature drumsticks, hot chocolate, crèche facility to bring along kids, clean up especially after festivals, toilet facilities, quick stage building, surgery, etc.

Dan"62" gave me that impression. So many throw their year of birth in like that so I just figured you were born in 62.
So tell me then, why the 62?

The first forum I ever joined many years ago I had trouble picking a username that wasn't "taken" (I'm not very creative), so I picked a random number (62) and it worked. Have been using 62, or some combination of 6 and 2 in pretty much every username since.

They were even worse in late 90's. So why were the ticket prices lower then? Does not make sense. But yeah, they have lots of backstage stuff that costs a lot. Along with with more staff members.

This shock reminds me of the uproar when the released Live Shit! back in 93 in the UK for £75($120 -50). A shop called Way Ahead records said they couldn't afford to stock the box set because of the minimum purchase of 2 from the record company. In the end the shop had to import from Holland and sold them for £140. Meanwhile fans were selling there old merchandise to buy the box set.

I saw them April 28, 1997 at the Summit(Houston Tx) and May 9th and 10th, 1997, at the Tarrant County Convention Center(Fort Worth Tx).
Tickets were like 27 bucks I think.

Shit, I remember trying to buy Live Shit back in 2005 or 2006 and it was like $90 for the DVD+CD set. Finally got it last May for like $25 off Amazon. First time I saw Metallica was on the St. Anger tour in October 2004. I think my ticket was about $55, $15 less than what I paid for one on this current tour.

Anyone hoping to go to the London gig, My missus said that two guys at her work were complaining that even on the early "O2 Priority tickets" they only managed to get standing tickets at just under £200 each. So these mythical £96 general admission tickets are either all gone or they have held some back. Which would fuck me right off if I'd needlessly paid double for the same show and a shitty poster.
Meanwhile those bellends over yonder are still defending the prices. Indoctrination at it's finest over there.
