And I think Savage, Murder One and ManUNkind are some of the worst!

I don't pay enough attention to the solos to be able to rank them.

I don't pay enough attention to the solos to be able to rank them. Me either. After all this time and SO many listens, there isn't one solo I can remember...except parts of the Halo solo. It's all just random fast shit with wah.

I think Now That We're Dead is the best one....not alot of stand out solos though.

It's all just random fast shit with wah. I really don't think that's fair. While I'd agree that the quality of the lead work on HTSD is pretty mediocre, to call literally everything Kirk contributed "random fast shit with wah" is taking it a tad too far.
Hardwired Now That We're Dead (first half) Dream No More Halo On Fire Here Comes Revenge Am I Cabbage? Murder One Spit Out The Bone (second solo)
So, as we can see, 8 of the 12 tracks on the album contain guitar solos without wah. I realize I'm cheating a bit with NTWD, but still, the point remains that the majority of the solos on the album have no wah.

The fact I'm incorrectly remembering most of the solos being random fast shit with wah simply means they aren't that memorable to me at all. Which was the first thing I said and was my main point.

ManUNkind would be somewhere down the bottom of the list. Yet I do love the sound of that tortured drawn out final bent note

Are we sure James didn't do the solo on Halo? That was way too tight for Kirk.

Are we sure James didn't do the solo on Halo? That was way too tight for Kirk. Doesn't sound like James' playing style to me. Sounds like Kirk. Doesn't sound 'too tight for Kirk' either.

The one at 5:19, if there's a second solo, that's more likely James than Kirk, easily.

That sounds completely like Kirk to me also.
The thing's that sound like something James might do would be that first simple solo before the 2nd verse, and wouldn't be surprised if he came up with the lead line over 'hello darkness' before the last solo.
I can straight up hear Kirks fingers in those other parts. Honestly not in a way I even like that much. I'm not a big fan of his vibrato sometimes.
