Metallica is playing with Lady Gaga at the Grammys it seems!

We weren't even trashing the band, just expressing disappointment that the bands actions make it seem like they are running along doing the bare minimum required to meet touring obligations. Oh, and we called a train wreck of a TV performance exactly what it was.

Sorry, I meant no valid arguments for the setlist/new album hype stuff. 

But fuck it I'll play along. Yes, I'm speculating that this awards show is ran like most entertainment events in that there was probably a creative director that came up with concepts for/with artists. But yes, no one knows for sure.

I never said Hetfield was a macho guy who would hate playing with Lady Gaga. He probably loves and respects Lady Gaga. My point was that everything to date tells us that James Hetfield hates posers. And that's what those people on stage were. Posers. People pretending to be headbanging to their music. So that leaves a few possibilities - 1. Hetfield actually has no problem with posers in 2017, regardless of everything said in the past, and came up with the idea to have fake headbangers on stage himself. 2. Lars/Rob/Kirk/someone else in the Metallica camp came up with the idea for fake headbangers on stage, and James green-lighted it. 3. Someone in Lady Gaga's camp came up with it and Metallica green-lighted it. 4. Someone at the Grammy's came up with it and Metallica and Lady Gaga green-lighted it.




Is there any evidence to suggest the concept of fake dancers, a fake mosh pit, feigned stage diving, flames and choreographed dancing was Metallica's idea?
If we look at Metallica's career, Grammy/TV performances by other artists, and performances by Lady Gaga, it is reasonably to conclude that the production we saw originated from someone outside of Metallica. Of course, this is not certain, but it is likely given the information we have available.



Of course it was contrived. Definition: "deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously". The show was obviously choreographed, based on the unnatural movements of everyone on stage that wasn't in Metallica. But yes, again, we don't know this for sure. Maybe everything we saw occurred naturally. Maybe those headbangers were just members of the crowd that climbed on stage. Maybe that stage dive was a spontaneous decision made my Lady Gaga. Again, we'll need to look at the likelyhood based on all past performances of the artists and the environment of the television awards show.



I'm never said Metallica weren't corporate. Salesforce and underwear are red herrings, as they are not relevant to the performance. This performance came across as contrived and corporate. By that I mean completely unnatural and overly thought out for the purposes of business advancement.

Perhaps. Again, I'm not against the collaboration, just calling the performance as I see it. Kid Rock was awful, but at least that was a guest appearance on stage in a live setting. It sucked, but at least it was real.
