That's pretty much what's happened, but not just with things I've said. I haven't seen that on the MetBB AM. Here're some examples from just the last 24 hours: These comments: I really hope the setlist starts changing some. These sets are SO fucking stale What bothers me the most is that their shows still follow the same formula as it did from 2006... change it up for gods sake. They are on autopilot Got these ad-hominem responses: Sorry but I have to say that some of you sound really fucking entitled all of a sudden They are not gonna make a set filled with your Escapes, Eye of the beholders and stuff like that, it's never going to happen so stop dreaming about it, it's stupid. I don't think yepsure and Steel will be satisfied until Metallica plays a special stadium set for only them, and going off of a setlist they write. Maybe they're just blah to you guys because you're burnt out on Metallica. Or you hyped up everything surrounding Hardwired so much that you were bound to be disappointed. You guys are pretty obviously burnt out on Metallica. Lots of entitlement, whining and bitching going on here. Are you guys PMSing or what? It's like, you're looking for things to cry about, even if they're not there. No matter what Metallica does, you will not be pleased. Something's ALWAYS wrong, and if one little thing is wrong, EVERYTHING is BULLSHIT. Yes. Steel and yep's uteri have become hemophilic. Then, when I responded to this: It's not fucking chamber music jazz fusion. It's heavy metal. with this: There was nothing heavy metal about it. It was some stupid contrived bullshit with the production values of a low budget late night MTV program designed by what a bunch of suits think "heavy metal" is. These strawman responses followed: at the idea that the whole thing was thought up by some suits and Metallica and Gaga had no say in it at all. I just don't think we can safely say that they had nothing do with putting any of that together. Until Hetfield comes out and says, "I wasn't entirely cool with those dancers, yepsure knows me best," we have no way of knowing. As far corporate, what about when they played for the Salesforce CEO? Or for the launch of Call of Duty? The Grammys thing may be contrived, but I wouldn't say it was soulless corporatism.

The thing that bothered me the most about that shit last night is the same people going after us also were on here before Hardwired trashing the band as much as we did last night.

We weren't even trashing the band, just expressing disappointment that the bands actions make it seem like they are running along doing the bare minimum required to meet touring obligations. Oh, and we called a train wreck of a TV performance exactly what it was.

Talk about being senstive, wtf Another example for the list. There still hasn't been a valid counter-argument presented for what we've said.

There hasn't been an argument presented. You stated opinions with the baseless speculation that "...the band were pumped to play with Gaga and some Grammys creative director put the whole thing together" " at those who think James Hetfield wanted actors on stage and choreographed dancing and stage dives." I know you were being condescending because someone else already was, but this is speculation. James is not the fake macho guy he used to be. Maybe his kids or wife likes Lady Gaga, who fuckin knows. Shit, maybe he does. None of us know, we don't know James like that. "I'm sure they all signed off on the idea as they would have for all other TV performances, but if you think Metallica came up with that whole concept you'd have to be pretty naive." If you think this is a valid argument you have to be pretty naive. You don't know what happened. Stop acting like you do. "Even if we put critical thought aside and say that it was Metallica's idea, it's execution was more contrived and as corporate than anything else they've been involved in." You don't know if it was contrived because just like the rest of us you have no idea how it came about. As far as being corporate goes, Metallica is corporate. They sell underwear and play Salesforce parties. I don't find this to be too corporate. They collaborated with an artist that is popular that openly enjoys their music. The artist they collaborated with is bombastic and over the top, so the performance was as well. "It's clear their team weren't involved in putting this together." Maybe maybe not. We don't know. Their lights guy hasn't had any pyro to do lately, maybe he wanted to really do a lot while he had the chance. Lady Gaga used to strip to Metal Militia, I think she was making a nod to that with this over the top performance. Also lets not forget that this the band that had Kid Rock front while James was out. No way this is worse than that.

I know you were being condescending because someone else already was, but this is speculation. James is not the fake macho guy he used to be. Maybe his kids or wife likes Lady Gaga, who fuckin knows. Shit, maybe he does. None of us know, we don't know James like that. Sorry, I meant no valid arguments for the setlist/new album hype stuff. But fuck it I'll play along. Yes, I'm speculating that this awards show is ran like most entertainment events in that there was probably a creative director that came up with concepts for/with artists. But yes, no one knows for sure. I never said Hetfield was a macho guy who would hate playing with Lady Gaga. He probably loves and respects Lady Gaga. My point was that everything to date tells us that James Hetfield hates posers. And that's what those people on stage were. Posers. People pretending to be headbanging to their music. So that leaves a few possibilities - 1. Hetfield actually has no problem with posers in 2017, regardless of everything said in the past, and came up with the idea to have fake headbangers on stage himself. 2. Lars/Rob/Kirk/someone else in the Metallica camp came up with the idea for fake headbangers on stage, and James green-lighted it. 3. Someone in Lady Gaga's camp came up with it and Metallica green-lighted it. 4. Someone at the Grammy's came up with it and Metallica and Lady Gaga green-lighted it. "I'm sure they all signed off on the idea as they would have for all other TV performances, but if you think Metallica came up with that whole concept you'd have to be pretty naive." If you think this is a valid argument you have to be pretty naive. You don't know what happened. Stop acting like you do. Is there any evidence to suggest the concept of fake dancers, a fake mosh pit, feigned stage diving, flames and choreographed dancing was Metallica's idea? If we look at Metallica's career, Grammy/TV performances by other artists, and performances by Lady Gaga, it is reasonably to conclude that the production we saw originated from someone outside of Metallica. Of course, this is not certain, but it is likely given the information we have available. "Even if we put critical thought aside and say that it was Metallica's idea, it's execution was more contrived and as corporate than anything else they've been involved in." You don't know if it was contrived because just like the rest of us you have no idea how it came about. Of course it was contrived. Definition: "deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously". The show was obviously choreographed, based on the unnatural movements of everyone on stage that wasn't in Metallica. But yes, again, we don't know this for sure. Maybe everything we saw occurred naturally. Maybe those headbangers were just members of the crowd that climbed on stage. Maybe that stage dive was a spontaneous decision made my Lady Gaga. Again, we'll need to look at the likelyhood based on all past performances of the artists and the environment of the television awards show. As far as being corporate goes, Metallica is corporate. They sell underwear and play Salesforce parties. I don't find this to be too corporate. They collaborated with an artist that is popular that openly enjoys their music. The artist they collaborated with is bombastic and over the top, so the performance was as well. I'm never said Metallica weren't corporate. Salesforce and underwear are red herrings, as they are not relevant to the performance. This performance came across as contrived and corporate. By that I mean completely unnatural and overly thought out for the purposes of business advancement. "It's clear their team weren't involved in putting this together." Maybe maybe not. We don't know. Their lights guy hasn't had any pyro to do lately, maybe he wanted to really do a lot while he had the chance. As above. Lady Gaga used to strip to Metal Militia, I think she was making a nod to that with this over the top performance. Also lets not forget that this the band that had Kid Rock front while James was out. No way this is worse than that. Perhaps. Again, I'm not against the collaboration, just calling the performance as I see it. Kid Rock was awful, but at least that was a guest appearance on stage in a live setting. It sucked, but at least it was real.
