Since we've been talking about this in another thread, what's your single least favorite thing about the new album? Not a full song, just one little moment in a song that you particularly hate, like a riff, a vocal melody, a lyric or whatever.
For me it's the bridge riff in Hardwired. It just kills any tiny bit of momentum the song may have had at that point. The solo's also really bad.

That snare roll. It's really the only part of the record that makes me cringe. It's just way too long.
Love the song though.

Oh yeah, Murder One's chorus ("Still feel your thunder!") is also really bad.

Waiting 5 weeks after release day for my preorder really sucked. I haven't even played the discs yet, I flipped through the book, but at that point I had already seen all the artwork etc. After that my deluxe CD has been collecting dust on top of my hot water tank.
Musically, I would say....
Two parts in Atlas. That descending powerchord thing that is between the intro and the first verse. It comes back later in the song and I don't mind it there, but before that first verse, IMO, sounds terrible.
And that part at the beginning of the solo where it switches to the halftime beat. It sounds like your CD skipped and jumped to another song those first couple of bars.

Some of the long snare rolls sound really dumb. But if they're the worst moments on the album, there's really not much wrong with it.

Lars' snare in the chorus of Atlas, completely ruins the melody

That slowdown part towards the end of spit out the bone, totally kills the momentum.

agreed. it sounds like Kirk has fainted and his foot is stuck on the wah pedal. just one big noisy mess effing painful on the ears. the line in Murder One " the man in black" < I keep thinking of Johnny Cash. for me there is only 1 'Man In Black' and that's Cash.

That main riff for Murder One. Yeah I don't like it either. The solo is infinitely worse though. Kirk could have pulled a better tribute than that. May as well have dug him up, pissed on him and buried him face down.

There are a lot of bad parts. I hate those silent parts in between the songs

I really dislike the part in Now That We're Dead that starts at 0:00 and ends at 6:59.

It's the best song on the album... You are totally entitled to your wrong opinion! It's band's pick on Spotify and the only song that has second official music video.

You are totally entitled to your wrong opinion! It's band's pick on Spotify and the only song that has second official music video. So they have a shit taste in (their own) music. Surp-fucking-rise. I mean, this is the band that plays fucking Seek & Destroy basically every single show. I wouldn't give much credence to their opinion.

I find the worst part these days is the transition from the Manunkind intro, into the actual song. I really like both, but the intro deserved to be something much greater then just tacked on as an intro. Maybe if the intro was reintroduced in the song somewhere as a harmony climax towards the end or something.

Yeah, but the clunky transitions and forcibly tacked-on parts are a defining aspect of modern Metallica, so in a strange way, it kinda fits.
