Maybe they could do the supercars though Hmm didnt consider that one even with understanding the GC round lines up nicely. Surely that would be well locked in and marketing underway if it was to be yeah? Like KISS and Newcastle round Extra sideshow!

You're going to have a blast. You should get your fix with all that...I hope. Going back to work after that stretch though will be a bummer. Oh well, get them in while you can, life's short. They may not be back your way ever, or for a really long time. You should document all of it.

But fun. I caved in and bought 2 Perth seats, come and see me yesterday I was looking at tickets and I made a mistake by clicking on 'Enhanced Experiences'. so it only showed $380 tickets! today I realized there was a link for General tickets and I found 2 seats for $190 each that are nowhere near the stage but should have a good view.

As long as people are getting their vaccines in time, Metallica actually might be able to finally play those Australian/New Zealand dates at the end of this year if everything goes well.

Every time our government lets international flights in, people have to enter mandatory 14 day hotel quarantine, which is run by the government. The governments are incompetent in running this effectively and the virus repeatedly gets out into the community result in state wide lock downs.
If somehow the Aus. gov said they were going to grant permissions to international artists to travel here, the entire Metallica crew would have to go into 14 day quarantine, at their expense, which given how many staff they have, would be a significant cost. They may even need to do this when travelling between each state when they are down here. Then they'll play to stadiums that have 50% or 75% capacity limits. And also run the risk of all shows getting cancelled if there is an outbreak and we all go back into lockdown.
The cost + risk will not be worth it for any big international band thinking about coming here in 2021.

Yeah, semi big local acts will have to do for the next couple of years. I can't see any big outdoor festivals happening anytime soon around here, even with the Vax.

yepsure is correct.
However I see KISS has announced new dates for their rescheduled tour down here. And both Faith No More and GNR have plans to visit. I cant imagine too many tickets have been bought. I cant imagine the shows going ahead to be honest.

Kiss have enough ego to eat the cost to bill themselves as the first American band to play AUS since before Covid. I can totally see them doing that since the only thing they love more than money is clout.
Aren't artists local to the area touring already? I saw Tame Impala playing shows at close to full capacity last week.

Have any big bands promoted any sort of VR or hologram concert experience? Now would be a great time to explore those options as more than just a gimmick money grab.
Everyone has a smart phone, buy your digital ticket from metallica.com, and get your custom Metallica cardboard VR goggles sent in the mail.

Local shows have been held. There was photos going around just the other day of Crowded house playing to a packed oval in NZ that got a lot of people in other countries talking. Couple of bigger shows have been organised in Aust with multiple artists to play but all this stuff comes with reduced capacity and contact tracing systems in place. This weekend is the last of 4 or 5 weeks of what we call the Fringe festival.
I've been to a few shows and besides seats being placed with a gap between and hand-sanitiser stations scattered about, it is pretty much like pre-Covid, people just getting out and enjoying themselves.

Its depressing reading back on the last page or 2 of this thread.....Black Ticket and all those plans
We had a great holiday in NZ (and means even more now since Covid hit) but following Metallica around 2 countries was gonna be something amazing. Cant see the opportunity coming around again unfortunately.

I don't think I could do it now even if COVID wasn't a thing and they announced it tomorrow, my life is just in a different place now (not in a bad way). Felt like a last hurrah that never actually happened.
