Yes bitches!!
Memory is just ending here for the first Metallica show in Beijing! Starting the show: Lites, Atlas, and King Nothing! Unforgiven is next..
The first ever show in Beijing received the first ever playing of Confusion! Before that we had Dead, Moth, and Harvester. Halo is on now!

Oh boy I want to hear this.
Weird that they allowed them to play that.

Wow! 5 new songs. Great stuff. Did they used an intro tape for confusion?

I guess the censorship is less strict than I thought. They played Creep and One (with Lang Lang). I was still really holding out for UF III where they played Day in the last show, but ehh.

I know it was panned a few years ago on the old forum, but I really like Lang Lang's piano solo in One. He's just a bit of a sloppy live player with them; the solo in the studio/rehearsal version they recorded with him sounds so cool.

I love that bit too, it's such a cool piece of music and it makes the 'machine gun' bit seem even heavier when it kicks in. The rest of his piano parts don't fit though...I know he's just playing what he's told but it's still bad.

Looks like Rob is singing the whole verse with James.

I know it's not really related, but it'll be cool of they played The Day That Never Comes and went right into Confusion. Seems it would fit somewhat. Also, it sounded pretty good in this show here. That echo was a nice touch.

If anything has surprised me so far on this tour, it's how much Robs vocals have improved.
Also, WTF Kirk. The solo before the second verse was horrible.

That echo was a nice touch. Great performance, I don't understand how anyone can dislike this song. The atmosphere it has live is incredible, and watching how much fun the guys have playing it , and how much energy they create from that second half of the song is incredible. Compare this to any One performance and the difference is like night and day,

Is it just me or is that performance boring as shit?
I love the song, and I'm still loving the album, but that performance was a chore to sit through. Something is really off with the band at the moment in my opinion. It's hard to articulate, but they seem so lifeless, no energy...they don't look like they're enjoying themselves or want to be there. Compare recent videos (what little there have been) to that first performance of Moth Into Flame on TV....it's like night and day.
Maybe it's just because it's debut performance, and I'm combining it with how low-key this tour is so far, and how bad Kirk has gotten live. That performance of Day up above was great and energetic, so who knows?

I was just about to post, remember when I said the performances are good but the whole band looks like they are going through the motions? This is the shit I was talking about. There was no life to this performance at all.

I'm thinking it's because it's a debut Maybe, but look how pumped and energetic they were when they debuted Moth for comparison.

Moth was debuted at Webster hall, a small intimate show, hardly a good comparison. But I do agree, they don't seem to be in full on touring mode. I don't really think those shows over there pumps them up as much as performing in Europe... Anyways we will se when they debut Dream, Revenge and Spit in front of.... ME!

So is this the beginning of the end? Tour the album, record another fun cover album, then announce that the band is done. I wouldn't be shocked at this point.
