I just read an article, tonight (included below), that talks about Metallica appearing on Jimmy Kimmel later this week. It was only a few weeks ago that Metallica were on Fallon, right?
How do you guys feel about Metallica appearing on the late night talk circuits? Personally, I'm not big on seeing this form of promotion from most bands. It kind of takes away from mystery, or its just too establishment, or something. I don't have issue with seeing a band do something like this on the very rare occasion, but 2 shows in the past month or so is just too much for me. In short, I prefer when bands don't whore themselves for the limelight, I suppose (Not saying that Metallica does, but it's definitely arguable). When it comes to promotion, I think less can be better. Let the music speak for itself.
Does anyone else feel similar?
It’s been quite the year for Metallica, who dropped their long-anticipated new album, Hardwired… To Self-Destruct back in November. They’ve been on a tremendous campaign so far, building up to the album’s release and it’s only the beginning of what will inevitably be a lengthy touring cycle in support of the record. The thrash legends will be making another television appearance with a performance set for Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
“As you may have heard, we’re off to Los Angeles next week for some more shenanigans and while we’re there we’ve been invited to shut down a few streets and throw a massive block party with Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Metallica said in a statement on their website. The band will appear on set for an interview with Kimmel before heading outside to “play a few songs.”
