Murder One (-) 11. Confusion (-2) 12. Now That We're Dead (-1) So basically, not that much has changed. I've definitely warmed up to Halo On Fire more, and especially ManUNkind, which is really good in all its quirkiness. Also, I've grown a bit bored of Confusion. The fall of Atlas, Rise! looks far more drastic than it is - I really like it. The only two songs I'd consider skipping, if I would skip songs, are the last two on my list. Those are the most disposable to me. But yeah. None of the songs are bad, per se. |

Out of the 12 songs on the album, a total of 11 have received a Top 3 ranking from at least one of the forum members. Conversely, there are 9 songs that have received a ranking of 11 or 12.
This just goes to show how consistently strong the album is - basically every song has its fans and detractors. And I think that's pretty awesome.

So Confusion, Atlas, and Revenge all jumped, while Now That We're Dead dropped significantly.
I still enjoy Dead. My only issue with it is that I feel it could have used some significant trimming. There's an awesome 5 minute song in there somewhere, but I feel that it, more than any other track on the album, is unnecessarily padded.

Dream No More - Just love the heavy side of Metallica. Great vocals, great vibe, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.
Halo On Fire - Sounds like something from Garage Inc., while being an original Metallica song. Really cool.
Am I Savage? - I feel like I'm the only one who really loves this song. It's an odd song with a Reload vibe, but heavier.
Spit Out The Bone - Love it. Still doesn't really touch old Metallica for me. But it's an in-your-face song with amazing vocals and great musicianship.
Now That We're Dead - This song is just pure, fun Metallica. James' vocals at the end really shine.
Confusion - The riffs in this song are pretty tasty. This was one of my early favourites, but it's slipped down a bit. Still a great song.
Moth Into Flame - This song has always been good, but I'm starting to prefer a chunk of songs over it (obviously).
Here Comes Revenge - When I first heard the leaked clip of this song, I liked it, but was curious how they'd stretch it into 7 minutes. Great verses, but a bit too lengthy.
Atlas, Rise! - I really liked this one at first, too. But I find myself not listening to it as much. Some good parts, but Disc 1 has much more to offer.
ManUNkind - A bit of an odd duck, but I still enjoy it from time to time. It's not as bad as some make it out to be, but it's not something I wish to revisit every time I listen to the album.
Hardwired - To the point, but ultimately lackluster as an opening to a Metallica album. Still, it's fun every now and then.
Murder One - I like the idea behind it, and the song isn't bad. But I tend to skip over it for the most part. Its placement right before SOTB really hurts it.
This is after quite a few listens. Still, it could change. The album is pretty damn solid. Even though I had to rank some songs lower, I still enjoy listening to them. Good job, Metallica.
