I'm shocked that so many people are placing Hardwired dead last. I love it personally. I'm still on the fence about disc two in terms of placement so I'm gonna withhold from this for awhile. It's cool that everyone's list is very different though. It's not like DM where there 90% of the board agreed that there's a common stinker *cough Apocalypse cough* My Apocalypse is a Top 3 track on that album, though. |

Ummm This will change in a week or twos time. But for now Spit Out The Bone Moth Into Flame Murder One (deal with it) Now That We're Dead Atlas, Rise! Hardwired Halo On Fire (this would be a lot lower I feel it didn't have 6:00 onwards in it) Dream No More Confusion Here Comes Revenge ManUNkind Am I Savage? Odd that I have Savage at the bottom. Every time I listen to it I say "This is one of the better tracks on the album" but then when I compare it to the other songs I find ever track superior to it. I guess that just goes to show that every track on this album is pretty bloody good. There's no outright shockers. Agreed. Murder One got too much hate early on. It's got kick. Maybe people just don't like the idea of a tribute song. Or, ppl don't like Lemmy. Coz pretty much everyone loved Ronnie Rising.
People dislike it because they don't think it's a very good song. People like Ronnie Rising because they think it's a good track. It has nothing to do with them being a tribute songs. You're making it out to be more complicated than it is. |

I think it speaks to the power of this album that many list HWTSD as their last pick. I love the song. It's just so short and one dimensional, I prefer the other songs to it. I think I have it as my last pick.
If a song I truly enjoy is at the bottom,,,, prepare for a touring Metallica in their 70's.
It may not be possible to re-create the success of TBA. But they are doing it right so far. I've been surprised over and over and over by this record. From all the video's on day one, to the song structures resembling MOP and AJFA.

There are so many good songs on this album...every time hear Now That We're Dead, Dream No More, Moth Into Flame, Halo On Fire, Confusion, Here Comes Revenge, or Spit Out The Bone I think to myself "OK, this is definitely my favourite song on the album", but then the next song in that list plays and I think the same thing.

The whole bridge section with the simple riff, followed by the bass solo and the guitar harmonies is fucking awesome. |

Now That We're Dead is the song I keep coming back to the most. It flows so well. I love the buildup in the beginning, and Lars' drumwork is incredibly solid.

I imagine Confusion would be one of my favorites off of the album if it had a stronger chorus. Unfortunately, I feel the chorus lacks power and disrupts the flow of the song.

Yeah DM is a fantastic album and if it had HWTSD production, it would have been gold. I prefer it over Hardwired, I love the new album, but DM has way better songs on it overall compared to Hardwired, but that's just me. The only weak song on DM for me is BBS, and that's because of the shit lyrics, the music is great.
I've been settling in with Hardwired, and its awesome, but it feels a bit... regurgitated?
Load is my favorite album, so it's not about the new one not being metal enough, it just feels a bit forced IMO.
If there was 1 or 2 more crazy tracks that had substance like SOTB, I would be deeply in love with this album.
I need energy in my music now a days, I rarely listen to AIC or Type O and doomy stuff anymore. I need something that kicks me in the ass and gets my heart going, or else I feel drained and depressed.

Yup, the chorus is definitely the weakest part of the song. I kinda like the My life; the war that never ends melody, but the way he sings the title just isn't that good. It's like a less inspired Cyanide type of chorus. The rest of the song is fucking great. |

Overall, it's probably the more "solid" of the two albums, but I also feel that there's a very significant drop off in quality after Life and Nightmare, where as with HTSD I feel that there are about 5 or 6 grade A tracks.
