Hardwired...the album doesn't make sense without it, I'll give it that. They wrote it for that reason. Yeah this pretty much. It works perfectly where it is to me, but I'd never choose to listen to just that if I had to pick one song from the album for a quick drive or something.

ManUNkind is catchy as fuck, way better than Hardwired and Murder One.
I reckon I would like Murder One a lot more of the lyrics were about something else.

The album title is really lame and cheesy just like the lyrics of the song Hardwired. While the album flows just fine from Atlas-Confusion, and even if we took all all the songs in contention, a strong opener would be be welcome...even That Was Just Your Life wouldn't have sounded out of place I reckon Life Atlas Dead Moth Dream Halo Confusion Revenge Bone That'd be a very strong album IMO

There's a cool riff in ManUnKind but I find the song genuinely irritating to listen to from the point the vocals start When listening to Murder and Lords, I think "eh...not great, next"......when I listen to ManUnKind I think more like "argg what is this racket I need to turn this off ASAP" and get irritated and annoyed. Thinking about it Dirty Window and Purify generate the same response.

I think Hardwired does its job. It's a fine opener, and I like that they tried writing a shorter song for once. I just don't think it stands out in any way. When I think back on TWJYL, I loved the guitar harmonies and the way James changes up the vocal melody for the final verse. The song has a lot of memorable moments for me. Hardwired just... happens.

Over time I see we have pretty similar opinions on the Met catalogue.....which makes this amusing to me because I like Dirty Window too . Always up for a thrashy Dirty Window jam, so fun haha
LoS is a weird one but I do like the opening stuff, including the Immigrant Song type riffing....overall it carries on a bit and again lyric choice not so good for me.

I dislike ManUNkind because of the stupid name of the song alone.

I dislike ManUNkind because of the stupid name of the song alone. Also because it is the worst song on the cd.

Manunkind is awesome, love the bounce, love that quirky time sig, and the middle bit is glorious. Title is meh cringy.
It absolutely is good wife repellent. Boy does she run when that one comes on.

I really dislike ManUNkind. Stupid title, boring riffs and that woeful middle part that Lars did his best to absolutely wreck with his stupid choice of a beat. The intro's cool and all but it's basically entirely unrelated to the rest of the song.

Hardwired is still my #1 favorite Metallica song of all time. Come at me, ya cunts. It's simply perfect. I will choose it over any other Metallica song more often than not, and can play it over and over again without getting bored. It's the best thing they've ever done.
ManUNkind has definitely grown on me. I wasn't sure about it at first, but nowadays I enjoy it quite a bit. It's a weird one, that's for sure.
Murder One is probably one of the weaker songs on the album, but still pretty decent. I have to admit, though, I expected something a little better from a Lemmy tribute.
Lords of Summer is actually one of my favorites from the album. And I much, much prefer the studio version over the early garage/demo/whatever versions.

And it was from this day forward, the phrase "hot take" didn't mean much to the Internet. As no one could come close to replicating the heat created from this post.

I don't think it's a stretch to say Hardwired has some of the highest highs in Metallica's career. I genuinely think Spit Out the Bone is the best closer they've ever had, and Moth Into Flame is up there with the best of the best. But half the album is fluff to me so the inconsistency prevents me from ranking it higher than even DM.

You all loved it back when it came out.
I still think it's their strongest album since Load.

Hardwired is still my #1 favorite Metallica song of all time. Hardwired goes nowhere. It's got the most stock standard typical cliched metal riff you could possibly come up with, lame ass lyrics about being SO FUCKED AND SHIT OUTTA LUCK, and a typical lame kirk solo with no structure whatsoever. The songs only redeeming feature is that it is all over in around 3 minutes, because they knew they couldn't keep playing the same lame riff over and over any longer. But you've heard all this before and still love the song, so good on you for enjoying it. I guess simple things entertain simple people...

Isnt this a thread about the TBA box?
Shut up about fucking Hardwired, the song is short and shit, but apparently just what the album and Jayzon needed - the end
