I voted St Anger because the cd I have is a best of called Edward The Great. I don't know the other albums.

You are missing out on some classic albums there.....good albums, not just ones that people say are classic coz they have to.

Really. I like it but not enough to buy more. Besides, it has most classics.

Really. I like it but not enough to buy more. Besides, it has most classics. The thing is they have quite a lot of songs that I think are better or just as good as many of the classics featured on that collection, so yeah, I agree with ford71V8. Off the top of my head...Phantom of The Opera, Remember tomorrow, Children of the damned, Revelations, Aces high, Powerslave, The Rime of the ancient mariner, Caught somewhere in time, Alexander The Great, No prayer for the dying, Out of the silent planet, Different world, The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, For The Greater good of God... ...And the list goes on really!

Maybe check out Life After Death Awake Awake.......besides being a very strong live album, it has songs you would be familiar with as well as some of the greats you are missing like The Rime of the ancient mariner, etc. .....perhaps a good way in to hear some more good Maiden stuff? Looking at Edward the Great tracklist, it ignores all of the Dianno material. Those first 2 albums are fucking awesome dude.

Saw Maiden just now, if you haven't caught their Legacy of the Beast Tour, then I suggest you go because it's fucking amazing.

Yeah, sucks but death comes for us all.
He shaped those Maiden albums that formed my youth so he'll always have that part of him left in the world.

And.... WOW..... another live album.
Honestly. At this point, Maiden is just a legacy band for me now. The last albums I liked (that involved skipping zero songs) was X Factor. Since Bruce & H's return all we get is over long songs with a quite bass arpeggiated intro and god awful repetitional parts that are basically just designed to be crowd singalongs. Seriously... how can ANYONE like "The Rted & The Black". Such bollocks.
I wish... WISH... they would do album box sets like Metallica re doing. Imagine all the cool shit they could put in. Instead we get live album after live album. YAWN.

The video is great. At first listen, I was like 😒meh, but it grows after a few. Is it ground breaking, holy shit balls this is awesome... Not really, sounds like Maiden, could have been on most any other record of theirs. I was hoping it would kick into overdrive at some point. Excited to hear the whole album, maybe in context it will vibe better for me. But hey! Maiden has a new single! And it's the year 2021! Cool stuff.

Well in direct contradiction to my last post in this thread... I am actually quite excited by this new Maiden song. It doesn't speak to the rest of the album of course but I really like what I'm hearing so far. I could do with a little less "Celtic jig" riffs in Maiden but it doesn't outstay its welcome. I was surprised at how blues-southern rock the intro was. Nice! I also like how Bruce didn't go to high, vocally. Though he still has a range, there's a definite element of struggle with his higher register these days.
Bring on the new album!!

Not sure I like the visual style, but I do like the theme! It feels like something they could've done years ago actually.

I like the image, it's maybe too simple, more like an ad or poster than a full blown album cover, but it's still good.

Just listened to Senjutsu for the first time. It was not as good as I had hoped. Not as good as Book of souls. Steve Harris' formula for epics have been getting pretty tedious for quite some time now, and this album continues that trend...I mean, none of those epics are bad, and a few are great, but overall most of them are plodding, too samey in song structure, feel quite uninspired melodically and are just too damn long for their own good. Having said that...My favorite tracks on first listen were The writing on the wall, The time machine and Hell on earth. I enjoyed the first 2 minutes of Lost in a lost world as well.

I really liked Book of Souls. For me, only The Red and the Black plods on and for too long so it was good to hear they were on a similar path for new release. But if there is too much of the drawn out stuff the album could suffer. Got a small backlog of albums but will get around to listening in full soon
