Saw the first half and a few bits and pieces from the second. Chelsea looked very out of sorts, sloppy and wasteful in possession. Arsenal looked quite handy on the counter as usual. Whatever flaws or deficiencies they've had under Wenger in recent years, they have always looked lethal going forward.
The fact that there's any sort of debate about the first goal shows how ridiculous the rule is. It's one of the fundamentals of the game, yet it's being left to the officials to decide what's what, whose interpretations will vary from game to game. As far as I'm concerned, Ramsey was offside, the ball travelled directly to him, he made a movement towards it, therefore he should be called as offside. More often than not, in these situations, the fact you're in that position will affect how the defenders position themselves etc, so you're affecting play even if you're not directly involved.

Nah, he moved out of play, wasn't off side, but the play to him preceded a handball...

He actually took a step forward or two towards the goal/ball before moving aside for Alexis, and surely that affected how the goalkeeper settled to face the eventual shot?

Just watched it back, I'd say the keeper had enough time there.

forgotten in space - any insight into this keeper from Benfica that City are about to spunk £30m on? He's quite good, definitely a great buy. Though for the kind of money they usually splash I'd just get Oblak and be done with it. But Pep has this fixation with footwork so I guess Ederson has the edge there.

Though they have to buy him off two clubs because of TPO, not sure what the final fee is.

looking for a bit of advice/guidance from you gurus of football. How does one go about getting tickets for a home game? Do you have to be a member of the club, and when are fixtures for next season announced?

It'll vary from club to club. For Liverpool, where tickets sell out very quickly (it's apparently a nightmare, websites crashing and all that), they release tickets in waves eg: members with 14+ home games attended the previous season, then members with 10+ home games attended the previous season and so on. There's also a local sale for people with a post code based in Liverpool. Any left over tickets go on general sale closer to the match day. And that's only for home games, away games are more difficult to get a hold of due to smaller allocations. For less popular clubs it'll likely be a lot easier though. You're better off checking the website of the particular club you're looking to get tickets for to see the specifics.
Think I read English fixtures for next season are out around 16th June.

Thanks Lordcatfish. Wee bit different to buying gig tickets - which I am decent at. Is for West Ham. I registered on their website but looks like one has to be a member - paid subscription - to purchase tickets. If then tiered relating to how many games attended... this could prove tricky. Guess my best bet is ask around and perhaps someone I know, knows someone who is a member already. And if proving too difficult, will come up with a plan C for birthday present :)

I reckon you're safe. Our owners are tighter than a crab's arse, and with Martins' release fee supposedly higher than the amount Roma want for Salah, I can't see our gang of incompetent twats going for it.

I think Sporting would negotiate for less than the clause, but hopefully not. And Salah would probably have an immediate impact being an older player, so you'd be better served with him I think.

He's a cunt. If English refs stopped going out of their ways to ignore fouling like they always do he'd get suspensions every other game.

Like with Messi he probably didn't have anything to do with it, they got people sorting out that stuff for them. They should be charged instead.

Ref just gave Jara a yellow for elbowing Werner, after VAR. WTF... Just because the ball was near doesn't mean it's not violent conduct. Jebus Chrise

How much did that cost you? Does it include any cup / European games? It's always fun to see how badly we get ripped off over here.
