Uh, he's right ya know.
Max heard Korn, got all jumpdafuckup about it. Said Korn was a revelation to him...
Put his hair in dreads and started wearing adidas Downtuned his guitar real low Played simple bouncy Korn riffs Started acting all Jon Davis like performance wise Doing the Davis 'babble' vocal shit Got Korn's producer Ross Robinson Went to the same studio as Korn Used a lot of the same effects equipment including the Korn distortion pedal Dudes from Korn were on the frikkin album including Jon Davis
Sepultura always changed with the wind. You think Korn was poop, fine, but they were innovators.

Roots is a magnificent album. Korn is a fantastic band. Max Cavalera is a bit crazy. He definitely ripped off Korn for Roots. I'm okay with it.

Roots sounds nothing like Korn, to my ears.
Whatevs. I love both bands - Seps up until & including Roots, Korn up until & including Untouchables.

Max era Sepultura was killer, not really keen on the new one. I have a chance to see the "new" Sepultura live, is it worth it? I've totally ignored the new cover band Sepultura

I've totally ignored the new cover band Sepultura It's not great but Andreas Kisser can still play guitar, you can still hear his talent. I've tried to get into them but without Max it's just not the same.

He sings the old songs really well, and much of the newer Sepultura material compares pretty favorably to the old stuff.

The 'new' Sepultura are awesome and not only are their last 4 albums better than anything Max has done since leaving, they also kick ass live.
Max is a very lazy performer, he doesn't even play his guitar live, he also pulled what I like to call a 'Robb Flynn', when it was popular he jumped on the Nu Metal bandwagon and when the trend died he was all about 'troo metal' again.

Yes, Green era Sep have done a load of great albums (anything from Roorback onwards) and are awesome live. Really, really heavy sound. Eloy is an absolute monster on drums too.

I never liked the album Roots, but I had a chance to see them at Ozzfest 96 while they were promoting Roots. Live it was amazing, all those tribal drums and stuff.
Arise is a the only album I truly enjoy. I never heard any Sepultura but knew the name and got Arise from Columbia house way the hell back in the early 90s. Popped it in and was blown away.

Actually, Roorback is my favorite Sepultura album of all time. Come Back Alive is a fucking monster of a song.

I'd never heard Sepultura's "Roots" album until right now. It's playing as I type this.
Sounds like Korn.
Moreso like Coal Chamber, who sounded like Korn too.

I never got into Sepultura, but I understand why people like them.
Korn on the other hand are shit.
I remember when Korns first demo (or maybe album?) cassette came out and I heard Blind and another few songs, I thought "holy shit this changes everything".

Watched some recent live and Derrick Green sounds like he's farting through his mouth.

Better than the performances Max gives nowadays, barely plays his guitar and talks through the lyrics.

eh, that wasn't really wrong to say but Roots was a good album. Korn influenced so many things around that time.

I'll see the Cavalera Bros playing Roots soon, if everything goes well. I'm curious about how it will be because I saw Soulfly last year and Max live about 2.5 years ago, and he didn't sound and look as bad as the video above.

In terms of Soulfly only Prophecy and Dark Ages are good albums. I hoped Max would rejoin Sepultura because Beneath, Arise, Chaos and Roots are all awesome but apparently Kisser hates the Cavalera brothers. Anyway, Sepultura was a big part of my youth in the 90's...i miss those guys. I always check out the new Soulfly album because Max was a hero of mine but i'ts nearly always disappointing. C'est la vie.

Jesus, Max has really let himself go. Watched recent videos and he's barley singing and moving, let's not talk about guitar playing. Saw them live 2008 and it was brutal.

So now we know. Hetfieldsrage was in his youth during the 90's. Mid-30's confirmed. Hard to believe but true.

Everybody tends to shit on korn because they have gone way down hill, those of us old bastards who where old enough to remember 94 knows better though. It was a huge break through in metal, and in music in general, a new style was born and it became extremely popular fast. I remember clearly the first time I heard Blind, I knew this was something special, I love those first Korn albums to death. When Follow the Leader came out in 98 they were as popular as Metallica, if not more.
