James kind of sounded cool all gruffy in the clip instead of the usual yodeling. I'll have to see more clips, but fuck, what a trooper.
They posted a 2 minute clip on Twitter of Confusion. Oh dear, and this Is night 1 of 4...

Can anyone help me remember during what show(s) in 2009 that James was sick? He had something bad on his vocal cords I think. I remember for example All nightmare long sounding pretty cool though (especially the last luck runs out), since he certainly had (bad) grit in his voice. Uniondale?

If I remember correctly I only heard an audio source of it but not sure. I'm sure there was one show in particular though when James voice sounded really gritty because of his illness, and pretty sure it was in 2009.

Oh, didn't even think of those two missing when looking at the setlist.fm version.

I remember he was sick here, and it was the last time they played it. Can't think of many other times he was sick.
He was interview during the DM era and the lady asked about Live Metallica and he said not to purchase one of the shows because he was sick. But I can't remember which show it was.

Well that was a memorable show. James' voice was really bad in the middle of the set. If I recall correctly, the speech was between Unforgiven and Dead.
Re: Fade to Black intro solo. Kirk had just pulled his solo where he steps on the guitar etc. He was then handed an LP for Fade, but it didn't work, so I guess the guitar tech just handed him the nearest guitar, and that was the one he had just stepped on. After that horribly out of tune solo he then switched to the mummy guitar.
I'M glad I got to hear Harvie, but bummed that they cut Halo. Now I just really hope they don't cancel Sunday's gig.

Yeah, that's probably the one I'm looking for. He had some condition on his vocal cords at the time (probably something ending with -itis).

Damn that was pretty awesome with Rob singing the lead vocals there! Have they been doing that lately or no?

Rob's bass solo was almost the highlight for me yesterday. He played a long funktastic solo, pulled some real Infectious Groves type of shit and slapped that bass real good. Anyone know if he's been doing that lately or if it was just to give James a longer rest yesterday?

Anyone know if he's been doing that lately or if it was just to give James a longer rest yesterday? Yup, it's his new solo and he does it at every show.

I felt so bad for James, you could see he was hurting. It was a great show nevertheless, very loud and very heavy. Dead was the highlight for me, so damn groovy

You were so close you probably caught Het's flu.

Well if anybody should give me the flu. It still facinates me how he plays that stuff with so much ease, when you are so close live it really is special, and you get a much more detailed expereience than say a pro shot DVD. He played Battery right infront of me and it just looks so damn easy, when I play it I constantly feel like I'm struggling

Thanks, we were basically in second row with hands on the rail. I had a sweet chick in front of me too so I didn't mind being pushed forward all the time. She didn't seem to mind either ;) We came into the arena at about 7.30 pm, we could walk right up to the rail, there where almost no people at the time. Didn't had to wait in line or anything.
That's a pretty sweet poster

Man, Hetfield is awesome. I don't even want to go to work when I'm sick, and he's up there giving it his all. Admirable.

I can't even watch, he must have been hurting like crazy Are you going to High Voltage tonight Kimbo? Sadly no, I live about 250 km away and I'm at home today. We will drive to Copenhagen some time tomorrow

Do we actually have video evidence that Trujillo actually gets angry and is not just awesome and calm all the time? He looked a bit displeased about his mic volume during the father part.
