Man I forgot about these shows. I agree that while there are a few nice choices, the opportunity was wasted. Seek and Bells? Why?.... because its probably quick and easy to sort. James seems to take more chances when he is on his own doing the acoustic sets. Maybe its understood some members aren't up to task for anything 'unusual' in a live setting.

Well we all know who makes the setlists. I'd like to think that there's more input from others in the lead up than just Lars telling everyone whats happening for Neil Young. Hope so anyway. James' comment about the Clash being stuck in his head kinda shows evidence of that. And the 2 shows they did with Celebrate, Brothers, Garbage, etc gave me the impression they all threw some options on to the table. (and then perhaps some of these options are binned when it looks like some member(s) aren't ' feeling' it )

Yeah they all pitch in on these shows, that's for sure. I'm thinking they are so damn busy now that expecting 7 fresh and rearranged songs is probably a stretch. I'm happy with the these shows, they could have leaved out Hardwired for sure

Well night 2 sounds ruined by Kirk and his out of tune guitar. Bleeding Me and Blind Man sound awful.
I'll probably buy night 1 for Hero, in tune Bleeding Me and Sandman.

Those outta tune guitars seems to haunt Kirk, he must play them really hard. I don't have to tune between every damn song when playing

Hardwired could have been cool with a saxophone solo here and there, it had a groovy rebal rouser kind of vibe unplugged if they pulled it off with out all the fuck ups.

Live Met's out. It's ok, but no where near as good as 2007. I've only bought night 1, but here's my quick review: Whiskey - not bad Blindman - not as good as 2014 Hero - man.. there are vocal parts that are fucking AWESOME and the best Het has sounded on the song since Load. Full of grit and power. Then there are parts where he tries to sing all clean like on S&M but is painfully out of key. And there are guitar fucks ups that are super obvious coz it's all acoustic. E.G. The intro is fucked. Bleeding - same deal with the vocals as on Hero. Some amazing moments, some vocal cracks and out of key moments. Overall decent performance. Clampdown - pretty cool Sandman - it's cool but loses a lot of the atmosphere that we saw in the videos. Not sure why. Vocals are a little wonky, and sound unrehearsed. And there is this augh that is super lame and ruins the song for me. Hardwired - fucking awful. Complete cringe. Firstly, they copied the performance from night two over to night one for the LiveMet release, but it's still shit. Hetfield even says "don't applaud, that was awful", not sure if he said that on night one or two. I CBF buying night two so maybe I'll never know. Seek and Destroy - you know what, it's actually not bad. I shouldn't have knocked it when I first saw the videos, but don't by the show for it or anything. Mr. Soul - meh
I bought this show mainly for Whiskey, Hero and Bleeding Me, with the intention of listening to a lot like the 2007 shows and the 2014 MusicCares show, but it turned out to be nothing more than a show you listen to more as curiosity, like about 80% of all LiveMet shows turn out to be. My recommendation: stick to the videos on YouTube when you're curious about this show. I'm sure it was a great show to attend, but the flaws/wonkiness in the performances make it an average purchase at best.

I was afraid of this, I'll skip this one then. Thanks for the review yepsure

Anyone have any opinion on the better performances on the songs played on both nights? I haven't been able to listen yet.

After listening to the song you sent me, I completely agree. Honestly I don't feel like listening to that performance again, even though it was very good in certain places. Feels weird really

Acoustically, they will never do better than Brothers In Arms from night 2 in 2007. That performance by James is spine tingling. The words, the melody, the register is in. Plus the sentiment? You can tell that means a lot to him post rehab.

God damn it, I love that song. So hard. James' vocal flubs and struggles makes it more real for me.
NOTE TO BIG MICK: That channel that Rob's vocal mic is on? It has a mute button for a reason.

Dat solo. Hahaha. He almost had it.
James did a good job I think, a few parts were rough but it wasn't that bad.

I don't like James' voice in 2007 , it sounds so flat to my ears , I like his current technique but his age limits him.

I really miss Kirk's little guitar melody after James sings 'Scuse me while I tend to how I feel.

I really miss Kirk's little guitar melody after James sings 'Scuse me while I tend to how I feel. That's a really awesome little part. I also love the ending of the S&M version, with the bombastic fanfare right at the end. A perfect bookend to an emotional journey of a song.

Another example is how the drums enter in the second verse instead of the first.
