It pisses me off that people still stubbornly refuse to let physical media die. It's over, move on. We are moving more and more to the digital world, and the physical world is becoming more and more irrelevant. Why not just accept it and go with the flow? The longer you hang on to obsolete technologies, the more it hurts to let them go. Div nae talk shite. Digital = DRM = it can go fuck itself. I don't pay money for ether, I pay to own and do with as I please, not what someone tells me I can do. PS itunes etc sound like shit compared to CD quality.

Nope. Physical media will never die. Sorry. Fact of life. At least not in our lifetimes. People still buy Cds and blurays and vinyl and DVDs and books and on and on. I want to hold the product and see it. I want to read the lyrics in a book not on a screen (or printed PDF0. I want to rip my own music. I want to own the steelbook of 'Brick'. And I'm not alone. So you can happily buy everything through iTunes and then keep it all in the cloud until you die, when Apple will take it all back from you. But I'll stick with my physical media. And yes, physical media WILL die. It's inevitable. Just watch. Books will probably survive, because they don't need anything else to use than the book itself, but all the things that require a player? We won't have them in 20-30 years. Not in a meaningful, mass-produced sense anyway. I mean, sure, new music cassettes are still made today, but it doesn't change the fact that the cassette industry is dead. If you say so. In the meantime, I'll keep buying CDs and vinyl records. If that pisses you off, too bad.

I don't know what is has to be so black and white.
I stopped buying CD's years ago and went digital (iTunes). I no longer own any CD's but now I listen to vinyl.
My setup is perfect for me - I now use Apple Music. I fought streaming/Spotify for a while because I wanted to "own" my music. Then I realised I was just owning digital files and streaming them is pretty the same user experience. I chose Apple Music over Spotify simply because it integrates with my own iTunes library of previously purchased albums.
Then I go ahead and purchase my favourite albums on vinyl. Not as frequently as I previously purchased digital albums, now I just buy my favourites that I'll listen to forever. It's about quality not quantity.
I think both digital and physical media both have their place in the modern world.

Fuck any music hardware you have to pay monthly to use. I have 2000 albums {growing monthly} ripped lossless, most high res vinyl, on microsd cards running through this: Fiio X5IIThere is no chance in hell I will pay to use any streaming service where the quality is reduced to streaming crap, with all the music jacked up to achieve maximum volume using the least bandwidth and your eargasm is dependent on a strong internet connection. Furthermore, while physical media may in fact perish at some point in time, by no means are we anywhere close to that stage. I would say quite the reverse is happening, as a whole new generation is discovering the joys of 33 1/3.

Had to change my vote to No. I've just moved into a work flat while my house is being built and am using the work network for Internet. Wouldn't be a good look to illegally torrent on it... Assuming it leaks, I'll listen to the stream on metallica.com that usually follows, and wait for the CD to arrive.

If and when it does leak, I'll be on it just like I was with DM. Already pre-ordered it, just like I did with DM, but I want to hear it as soon as possible. So, if it does leak, yeah...I'm getting it.

Does Spotify make new releases available by region? Or will we all have to wait for USA release?

Best 309.99 i ever spent on music related hardware. Edit: How do you like the X3? I found the X1 to be ok but the 5II blows it out of the water.

X3 has a warmer tone, x5I has a Flatter more analytical quality due to a better DAC and better separation in the channels. I use 2 of the Sandisk 200 gb in my X5ii, you should be able to do so as well, others have reported it works great, even in the x1. Supposedly Sandisk has a 512 gb on route, but I suspect that will be rather spendy when it arrives.

I wonder how many of the nay-sayers caved in.Maybe I should start a poll I said "yes" in the poll, but I didn't listen. My first listen of this new album was not going to be via some kids shitty Facebook stream. That's not how I listen to music. If a full CD rip gets leaked, I'm not sure if I'll have the willpower not to listen to it, but I'll try.

You DO realize you're about to be hit by lightning, right? Sorry Don't mind me - I'm just jealous because I missed that video! Oh, well. I did pre-order it on Amazon, though. I'll still look for a leak, though. Nothing wrong with a little preview

I would if I knew how to get to this "Pirate Bay" I hear so much about. Do I need a boat to get there? pirates frighten me, so I don't think I would fare to well with negotiating a copy.
