So today is Copenhell… A festival with some pretty gnarly shit and with no regulars at all. It’s purely a metal crowd and it was sold out before Metallica was announced. They are forced to pull out a pretty heavy set list tonight, they will get no points for Reload tracks etc. This makes me somewhat excited.

I'd be excited too.

I was searching that festival on YouTube and came across a cool clip from 2013 of Jason's band playing Whiplash. Sounded great.
The above posted set is pretty sweet.

A bit odd to see One as the second last song, is that a thing now?

Oh my GOD. They haven't shaken up the setlist in awhile. I bet this order is gonna be the new norm. This is like when they switched Sandman to the show closer from Seek.

I'd love it if they rotated Dirty Window with other songs from St. Anger, such as Sweet Amber, Shoot Me Again, Invisible Kid, Unnamed Feeling, SKOM or Purify.

I wonder if Kirk fucking up Nothing Else Matters at Boston finally kicked it off the setlist.

I also have to acknowledge that this is one of their best setlists in years.

Wow that’s just the shake up everyone’s been wanting for years. Let’s see what they do with it from here on.

I was pretty surprised when I saw this setlist, but is it really that big of a shake-up? In terms of the placement of the songs, absolutely, but the selection itself is still pretty safe. Bleeding Me is absolutely welcome though.

Bleeding Me is absolutely welcome though. Rare songs: Bleeding Me, Trapped Under Ice, Dirty Window, Damage Inc Dropped staples: NEM Shaken up format: Sandman third (seems random), closing with One and Puppets? Just one of those things happening would normally get people talking after the fairly stagnant last 5 years, but it’s all from just the one, normal gig. It’s something to introduce a bit of interest anyway.

So Moth into Flame is "new" Dirty Window going on 20 Bleeding me is 25ish
Everything else is from the "oldies".
They still need to drop a few of those off and replace with something more current. Sad but True and Seek gone, even FWTBT could use a vacation.

Hopefully that means 2023 = 2016 with a new album, but I can dream.

They had wrapped Death Magnetic Tour where they were closing with seek all the time and suddenly during summer 2011 they put seek in the 4th spot. Also regular shortest straw, ktulu(!) and no NEM also.

I forgot they cut NEM for that tour too. I hope this time is more permanent. After seeing them at a festival I can kind of understand Bells and Sad, and especially One, MOP, and Sandman. But NEM as a staple has never made sense to me since it's never been the greatest live song either.

They play it for the ladies. I'll take five minutes of NEM over having to hear m'lady bitch about how she can't believe they didn't play her jam for the 48 hours following the concert. We should be thankful.

Like the post about the Cigars, it is getting very cringy.... makes me feel disappointed that they choose every option to generate money other than releasing new music.

That's just crazy. Since it's for charity, could you get a tax refund for the tickets? Here in Canada, that's how it goes, you can claim any charitable donations on your tax return up to $10,000 or something like that and 80-100% refunded, depending on the circumstances.

$4,000 for mid-tier seats for a small venue Metallica show? Fuck, for that money they better give me a free Metallicigar, A bottle of Blackened whiskey, A Metallica commemorative coin, a commemorative t-shirt, and a handjob from one of the Metallica road crew if they're gonna make me pay that much. Jesus.

Face value tickets were not $4000. They were either looking at resale tickets, or Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing tickets which fluctuate based on demand.

Was through the legacy presale link Not at all. It’s easy to miss. Platinum tickets were for sale during both presales. Pretty sure regular tickets maxed out at $500
