"This song goes out to a good friend of ours"...Feels a bit wrong as an introduction to this song. : P
Edit: Wow, the backing vocals in the chorus together with James' voice! Sounds evil and fucking awesome!

I think James is referring to Morgan Harrington, the girl who if you remember, was abducted and then murdered from a Metallica show in Virginia back on the DM tour. I remember reading somewhere that that was the main inspiration for the lyrics. Edit: Its actually this I was remembering. Tweet Share With eight years between albums, Metallica had built up not only a fair share of riffs to sift through, but also a number of topics they wanted to address on Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct. During a recent chat with Marky Ramone for Virgin Radio (seen above), singer James Hetfield revealed the tragic backstory for the somber and vengeful song "Here Comes Revenge" off the new album. “‘Revenge‘ itself, it really came from … There’s a fan of ours, and I was just trying to put myself in their shoes," revealed the singer. "There’s a couple that showed up at so many shows, and they got into Metallica because their young daughter was a big fan, and she had gotten killed by a drunk driver."

Both the Revenge and Thingy performance were sweet as hell

I highly encourage everyone to get on to Spotify or wherever and listen to the acoustic album they released from that show (if you haven’t already). It’s so great.
Well except Hardwired at the end.

For the guitar people - Hetfield brought back the Man to Wolf Explorer at the last show. To my knowledge it’s the first time it’s been played on stage since the Black album tour.

I always like the whole Rob playing some Cliff stuff with Cliff on the screen, but, wish he would play Anesthesia correctly. (I'm a guitar player) FFS, I don't even play bass and I learned it correctly like 20 years ago borrowing my friend's bass for a month, and Rob is a bass master. Anyway

I play too and learnt it years ago as per Kill em All. But IMO the song has no correct way and the thing I don't like about what Rob does with it is that he is copying rather than letting his own interpretation come through. And yes if you are gonna just replicate it, then I also find it odd Rob doesn't nail it.
Its really great that Anaesthesia gets a run, much better than it being ignored, or too precious to include.....but I think it should be treated as an outline for someone like Rob to let loose on, rather than imitate Cliff.

Kirk has come a long way since the traffic song. It would be interesting to see him do something in the studio with multiple takes, auto tune and layered tracks.

That was the most awful rendition of Killers I have ever heard. Without the singing it just might've been unrecognizable.

Nah, plenty to recognise there. Far from the best cover though. Made me want to hear the full band

James sounds kinda worn out...Hopefully he'll be in better shape in about a week when I'm seeing them.

Fuck yeah! It so happens that I will be in the Snake Pit this coming Tuesday. I wasn't as excited as I thought I'd be by now before, but these awesome news sure changed that!

What's with Europe and St. Anger songs? Ya'll like that shit?

What's with Europe and St. Anger songs? Ya'll like that shit? To me, any song that hasn't been played 500+ times is good. I'd rather pay for a post-1991-songs show than a pre-1991-songs show.

Not sure if it’s just all in my head but for this latest outdoor European run has been really fun to follow over the last couple of months. The set lists, the performances, the daylight shows, Het’s man to wolf explorer, the awesome video/sound quality of the live met videos.
Unreal energy, getting really pumped to see them in October, even outdoors based on how great these shows have looked.
It’s the most interested I’ve been for the entirety of the WorldWired tour.

At the Berlin show some days ago during Master of puppets Kirk's guitar-snap broke just before the solo, so, yeah, you can see/hear what happens here:

Surprised he didn't just run over to his wah and slam the whammy bar around. So much for being able to improvise.
