So someone on Judas brought up the fact that the drums on the end of the snake pit are triggered. They are probably this way due to the ease of them being set up.
I actually prefer this sound, you can hear all of the bass drum hits clearly. What do you guys think?
Wow that's a huge difference. All the tom hits are perfectly clear (no more muddiness), the snare isn't overpoweringly loud and all the bass drum hits are perfectly consistent, even in the faster section. A completely different experience to the relatively inconsistent bass drum work Lars normally delivers.
Honestly, I really wish he'd just use triggered kicks live from now on. It's arguably a bit of a cheat, but when it improves the overall sound that much, it feels like a no-brainer.

There were times when they played all of the rarities , now every setlist is greatest hits.
There were never a single time in their carrieer when they did that on tour. It's always been a solid set with stables and the occasional rare song thrown it.
Huge different on the drum sound indeed, I'd like to hear it like that at a live show just to compare between two songs.
No Remorse is fucking awesome, well done
I will report back with this information after I see them. I actually think using triggers is something Lars should embrace at this age. All consistent sounds without having to beat the shit out of the drums. He already has a bad shoulder anyway so it could really help.

He won't change his technique because of it so I'm not sure it would help. He should embrace them though, especially his fast one foot beats like fight and battery would benefit massively. The kicks tends to get a little muffled live, especially because he insists on playing them with one leg. When are you seeing them Steely ?
