They did this for entertaining but it added nothing. James playing the drums while Rob playing a bass solo would be better imo.

Jesus Christ, that is worse than the Metallica family Sandman jam. I couldn't watch any more than the first 30 seconds.  Also, you'd think they'd play Halo On Fire, one of the most popular songs on the new album, but na The Memory Remains and awkward drum jams are much better. |

Lol, I'm as happy as I can ever be at this moment in time, so I'm not gonna get mad about people discussing something on a message board.  My view on this is that it is something different. And whatever it turns out to be, I like that they try something else during their shows. It's not always gonna be something everybody is happy with, but I bet no one at the show walked away in full cringe mode. |

Love what James does vocally at 3:00. The we will win part sounds great when he sings it higher like that. Love how brought the "leave me the fuck alone" part back as well. Sounding good.

Not bad at all.
But I'm gonna keep the complaining going for a minute...what's with the lame visuals going on in the background on the screens? Being stuck 5km's from the band at the back of a stadium is bad enough, but at least you normally have screens to actually see the band playing, now it's just some stock footage of an extra walking around the cell of a padded room (or whatever the visual is for that particular song)....and the CGI TV set like the one in Moth Into Flame...wtf?!
Some strange choices being made of late.

I hope after 3 nights doing the "drum battle" they either really improve it or ditch it all together. I saw Sepultura on the Roots tour and when they did the whole group tribal drum stuff it was fucking beyond awesome, where as this felt like my drunk, old uncles at a BBQ banging on some Tupperware with the kids.
And did they only use the ramps around the snake pit on the last song? What a waste if so.
Set was alright, though Atlas as the second song doesn't do justice for the opening of a Metallica show. TWJYL and TEOTL were far better openers. They should do the HardWired into Creeping Death thing, get people pumped up.
