Excellent point WHWH.
I would like to hear a remixed version but not to replace the original (a la Megadeth...). So if they remastered the original album and included a download code for a remixed verison - we's all be happy.

I beg to differ. To me, Puppets is definitely one of the most overrated albums in metal history. It's good, yes, and even has moments of greatness, but I really don't get the adoration it receives. Most of Metallica's other albums are superior to MOP. When it comes to the songs, though, Justice obliterates Puppets so hard, it's not even funny. The only singular way MOP is better than AJFA is the production, although over the years, I've learned to appreciate the unique sound of Justice. But it'd be really, really interesting to hear a "proper" remix of Justice. I'm sure it'd make the album even greater than it already is. I have to completely disagree. I started to wrong a long post explaining why, but then I thought "fuck it, it's the internet, I'll make a ratings list" Song ratings: Battery - 8/10 Master of Puppets - 10/10 The Thing That Should Not Be - 7/10 Welcome Home (Sanitarium) - 10/10 Disposable Heroes - 10/10 Leper Messiah - 10/10 Orion - 10/10 Damage, Inc - 8/10 Overall: 73/80 - 92%Blackened - 9/10 ...and Justice For All - 10/10 Eye of the Beholder - 6/10 One - 8/10 The Shortest Straw - 8/10 Harvester of Sorrow - 10/10 The Frayed Ends of Sanity - 6/10 To Live Is To Die - 6/10 Dyers Eve - 9/10 Overall: 72/90 - 80%
My turn Battery - 10/10 Master of Puppets - 7/10 The Thing That Should Not Be - 6/10 Sanitarium - 8/10 Disposable Heroes - 7/10 Leper Messiah - 5/10 Orion - 10/10 Damage Inc. 7/10 60/80 = 75% Blackened - 10/10 ...And Justice For All - 9/10 Eye of the Beholder - 6/10 One - 9/10 The Shortest Straw - 7/10 Harvester of Sorrow - 8/10 The Frayed Ends of Sanity - 6/10 To Live Is To Die - 9/10 Dyers Eve - 8/10 72/90 = 80%

If they released a version with the bass properly mixed in, the original version would become moot. Not entirely. There are people who actually like Justice's sound and production style. I don't know if it's Stockholm Syndrome or what, but they're out there.

I love ...And Justice For All as is. It remains may favorite Metallica album, 2nd overall behind "The Doors". I am just very interested in hearing a remixed version. While I agree with the download code theories, I could also see a limited edition "Exclusive To The Box Set" remixed disc, that is assuming that they put out a box set like Kill & Ride.

This is just crazy talk but I'd like to see a bluray of them playing the AJFA album in it's entirety, like the St. Anger DVD. Have Rob sit on the sidelines for this one and let Jason take over.

^ If nothing else, I would like a BluRay edition of Seattle 1989. I was there. While the dvd is nice, I know for a fact it was shot on film. I have serious doubts that AJFA will be remixed, but I can see zero downside to Seattle not being issued in HD.

It's not like Jason brought his own unique style to the album that can't be replicated by anyone else. Quite the contrary, in fact.

Regardless of what they do with the remaster of ...And Justice for All, it'll sound smokin' in Lars' car. :P

Yet according to everyone not in the band Jason smoked the bass lines on that record. Why would they do that? It'd sound better with Rob playing bass. Yet it was bad when Ozzy re-recorded Blizzard, when Dave re-recorded His early albums........ They do that and I burn every Metallica album. As much as most everyone here says there's too much love for Jason by some fans, those people may want to look in the mirror and ask why they hate him so much.

Jason sounded like shit on AJFA. There are tracks available.
The guy even said himself, I'd have turned my bass down too given how little I knew about playing bass at the time.

Have you actually listened to the bass tracks yourself or are you just basing your opinion solely on someone else's opinion?

Both. And their view is in agreement with mine.

You didn't say anything about re-recording AJFA. You said it'd be cool if they did a Blu-ray of them playing AJFA in its entirety, and Rob, the actual bassist for the last 13 years should sit out, so Jason can come and play instead. I pointed out that that would be stupid since Rob is an infinitely superior bassist and thus the Blu-ray would sound better with Rob playing AJFA's bass lines that he probably changes for the better anyway.
