Anything's possible but I doubt a remix of AJFA is on the horizon.

"hey Jase, how would you like your bass tone on Blackened? Fancy a bit more compression, or maybe some distortion? Shall we give it a 2dB boost in the bridge? Maybe re-record that other bit with a set of fresh strings this time, as you weren't allowed to borrow 50 bucks for new ones back in the day? Ah, them were the days! Oh they weren't? Oh, of course. Sorry."
Unlikely :P

The only reason I think it won't is because if its remixed {insert word that starts thread war here}, ...And Justice For All buries Puppets, we all know that isn't allowed. Interesting to see if the almighty [$] over rules. Logically, it's a license to print money. Would they allow their favorite to perish for the payday?

No, nothing to do with Metallica has been about a "payday" since late 1993. If it was they'd have never have bought the rights to SKOM, done TTN, bought a record pressing plant.... It'll be an artistic decision either way.

MOP is far superior to AJFA in many, many ways. I beg to differ. To me, Puppets is definitely one of the most overrated albums in metal history. It's good, yes, and even has moments of greatness, but I really don't get the adoration it receives. Most of Metallica's other albums are superior to MOP. When it comes to the songs, though, Justice obliterates Puppets so hard, it's not even funny. The only singular way MOP is better than AJFA is the production, although over the years, I've learned to appreciate the unique sound of Justice. But it'd be really, really interesting to hear a "proper" remix of Justice. I'm sure it'd make the album even greater than it already is.

Well let me preface all this with - art is subjective and there is no wrong or right..... But you're wrong j/k For me, MOP is an album of no skips; in so much as I don't skip any track. The standard is that high. But on AJFA I almost always skip AJFA, Eye and Harvie. So that makes MOP the superior album. For me. Don't get me wrong I love a bit of AJFA but I do find, these days, it gives me a bit of ear fatigue.

Heh, I guess nobody's taste in music is perfect... Except mine. To me, AJFA is a no-skipper, but on MOP I usually skip Sanitarium and Leper Messiah. Those two just bore the shit out of me. But to be fair, Orion is one of my all-time favorite songs.

I can't see Metallica ever remixing AJFA (even though I believe it's in dire need of one), because that would basically be saying, "Hey, we were wrong all those years. Here's the fixed version." It's not like Let it Be...Naked, where they were fixing someone else's production handiwork, but going back on their own. If they released a version with the bass properly mixed in, the original version would become moot. Nobody would want that version and there'd be something of a case for being allowed to trade in your original copy for the remix, although pretty tenuous after 30 years, I'll admit.
I think Metallica in their heart would like to remix it, but it's too much of a bee's nest from a business standpoint.
