Is it faithful to the novel? I would argue more so than that abomination of a miniseries was. I can see your point of view if you saw it after Nicholson started playing himself playing other characters, but at the time, and still is to me, a top 20 horror film.
I am highly biased, Kubrick is my fav director.

oren: this shudder app? can you see a list of all horror movies? if so, must pass on to my son... he is a huge horror flick fan and always asking me for recommendations Yes!!! It's great! I got a year's subscription when I brought my Roku box and I might renew it once the subscription runs out next year (if I have a bf to cling to while watching it by then ) because it's so good! TONS of great horror options, just about every movie they have is something I'd be interested in watching... You can see all of the movies they stream on their website here (http://www.shudder.com/). For some reason, the website only display's in Internet Explorer for me.... ahhh isnae available here yet. Tried the website and says coming to UK in autumn.. so should be available soon enough :)

It always tops the best and scariest horror movie polls, and its neither.

Alien/Aliens are great films but are they really horror? I always thought they belonged more in the science fiction genre. I may be wrong though. Aliens is an action movie. Alien is straight up horror. People being stealthily stalked and picked off in a claustrophobic environment by a terrifying monster. It's Science Fiction too, of course. Films don't have to neatly fit into a single genre.

Has anyone seen the Human Centipede?
Recommended to me by a younger friend - possibly the most fucked up things I've watched since 2 girls 1 cup. It's not even scary, it's just fucked up and disgusting.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That is all. (the original of course)
When you grow up in central TX and are lied to that it really happened, nothing is scarier than that.

Irreversible wasn't too bad either. Isn't that the movie with the HORRIBLE rape scene that most people consider to be the most disturbing in cinema history?
