Listened to The Troggs compilation today....ignoring Wild Thing due to radio and every dodgy cover band overplaying it, there are a bunch of good songs in this disc.
Moved onto Hoodoo Gurus - Magnum Cum Louder after that and things took a bit of a dive. I love this band but I've always thought the best stuff was the early stuff (always is yeah?). Couple of decent tracks.
Pulp Fiction Soundtrack was up next. I've owned this for years and is a favourite s/t. I bought this copy because it said it was Collectors Edition, so bonus shit. Link Wray was a cool addition but currently listening to Tarrintino waffle on, I think he is high.

VAN HALEN - 5150Its a pretty great album, definitely holds up well. Never thought I would come around to the Hagar / Roth swap, but the songs were still strong. BIBLICAL PROOF OF UFOS - Interstellar MessagesI have a few of their albums I prefer to this one but gave this another listen yesterday and while its less experimental than other ones, some of the tracks are now stuck in my head. Glad I gave it another run. WINGS - WINGSPANAll the hits. After watching Get Back, I have a new found respect for Paul (again!). Watching him thrash his bass until Get Back falls out of it and seeing him fuck about and create Let it Be and TLAWindingRoad was incredible. And when you remind yourself that those songs on Let it Be and played on the rooftop did not exist 3 weeks earlier it is kinda flooring.
Can you imagine Metallica giving themselves 3 weeks from the start of next month to write 14 songs and organise a performance?
Anyway, Wings..its great, even the sappy shit. How catchy is Junk?

It was so interesting and felt special. I was home at my parent's house and they even watched most of it with me, which was really nice. Out of the four Paul was clearly the one holding it all together during those sessions, when no one else in the band seemed to care enough to even try to.

There is plenty of good solo Paul music. A good amount of average stuff too. Get Back could have been hours longer and Id still crave for more. If only they had filmed like this for other albums I always really liked Nineteen Hundred and eighty five. He played it live on his last tour here.

ELTON JOHN - Tumbleweed Connection ELTON JOHN - Honky Château
Early Elton albums are far better than the later stuff. Honky Cat is a great song, never gets any attention.
AC/DC - TNT AC/DC - Let There Be Rock
Classics. Only recently bought a new copy of TNT, was a lot of fun hearing that in full - been a long time since I did that. TNT is short so threw in another album to get a good fix of AC/DC.'

Crocodile Rock is fun, but I don't think I have ever actively looked for that song to play

I made a playlist comprised of all the singles they released according to wikipedia + the few album tracks that are featured on the Wingspan compilation that you listened to. These are the songs (in alphabetical order) that I liked the most and kept: Beware my love Country dreamer Daytime nighttime suffering Getting closer Give Ireland back to the Irish Helen wheels I'm carrying London town Mull of Kintyre My love Rock show With a little luck

Mull of Kintyre was a massive hit in Australia. It was on the radio and TV constantly, and became one of the first songs I learnt on guitar - it was everywhere.
Daytime Nighttime Suffering is a good track that gets overlooked.
You know Band on the Run yeah?

Yeah, I thought I would recognize it when I listened to it now but I didn't actually. I think it's a little too long for its own good, but yeah, it has a nice melody. Yeah, (I) definitely (know it). If that song had only been the part from 2:13 and to the end it would definitely be one of my favorites, but those first 2 minutes of the song are just not my thing unfortunately. : /

I added it to my favorites now.

Manowar - The kingdom of steel (The very best of) I remembered Battle Hymn from my youth. The other songs are also pretty damn good (not all of them but most). they get a lot of criticism and mockery but they do have some great songs and with undoubtedly one of the greatest heavy metal singers of all time as far as I'm concerned. I haven't checked the recent albums (the previous one had terrible production) but I saw them in their previous tour and they were on fire. They will visit İstanbul again this summer. I think I'll catch them again

Villagers of Ionnina City - Age of Aquarius
I started a topic about them. Highly recommended. Isis like post-rock/sludge meet with Greet ethnic music.
Star One - Revel in Time
Well, it's Star One. You get what you were promised to get. Awesome. Plus it features a song about my favourite movie series of all time "Back to the Future".

In my teenager years, there was this stupid rumor that Manowar hates Turkey and all. Then in their first gig in İstanbul, Joey made a hilarious speech about this rumour in Turkish. I give Joey credit for making a brief speech in different languages during their concerts. this is from their first İstanbul concert. It was at a dungeon/fort called Seven Towers Dungeons which is a monumental building from the Byzantium and the Ottomans. It is the place where the young and dethroned Sultan Osman the 2nd was killed during a revolt by the Janissaries. Very fitting for a Manowar gig. The lightning strikes while Eric sings "like thunder from the sky..." were in fact really happened as I was there to witness that. It was epic.

Pain of Salvation - Panther
While I admit it is not one of their best albums (certainly not bad at all, though), it is one of their (or Daniel Gildenlöw's? ) boldest.
One thing I love about Pain of Salvation is that they never release an album twice. This is new. Innovative. Thought provoking as always expected of Pain of Salvation. Some songs like Icon, Unfuture, Wait, Restless Boy are among their best works to date. And some songs like the title song are conceptually quite interesting. As usual the album deals with conformity, modern world and invidiuality. I really like the "panther" allegory in a "dogs" world.
