I'm not a SOAD fan, just never felt like listening to them... I got nothing against them though. after watching both videos, it sounds like the singer has a George Harrison thing going on. it wasn't until just before The Beatles split that Harrison was able to get the best of his music on the albums. 'Something' & 'Here Comes The Sun' being 2 stand out tracks on ABBEY ROAD. but George was also in the position of being in a band that had John Lennon & Paul McCartney so I mean, kinda tough to get your ideas heard. if the lead singer of SOAD isn't really into heavy music, I would've thought that would bring something interesting into the band. it's a shame.

Good stuff:
Also, why are there two music threads?

Also, why are there two music threads? It seems I fucked up. My thread is more popular though.

I've never really been that into Led Zeppelin, but I liked this straight away.

The Greta Van Fleet album is pretty great (From the Fires, is partly an earlier EP). I'm a huge Zep fan and I was all over this from the first listen. I think it was a Robert Plant interview that I heard their name and then I'm watching these kids rockin out Zep tunes in what looked like a school assembly....hoping for another release soon to see what they can do on a full album.

If GVF could stop completely ripping off Zeppelin that would be impressive.

Meh, lots of worse bands to rip-off.
But yeah, it is partly the reason for wanting to hear what they do next.

I really don't have a problem at all with bands ripping off the sound of another band as long as the songs are great.

Aretha Franklin passed away, aged 76. Such a great voice and a great performer. A huge loss, albeit not unexpected.

I was excited to read awhile back that Jimmy Page had found some recordings in his own archives of the period when he was in the Yardbirds. Some studio takes and the original tapes of a full show. The show is not new but with the originals it is now available without all the fake audience overdubs, as well as being cleaned up. The 2CD set has been sitting there waiting for me for many weeks now and I finally got a chance to dedicate some proper time to listening. Its pretty great to hear this pre-Zeppelin period like this, and leaves you wondering if the band with this line-up could have been something that could have made a bigger mark than it ever did had it kept going and not disbanded. The show is a snapshot of their last tour where it had already been decided to call it quits. If you are a Led Zep fan, this set is well worth looking into.

soundtrack: INTERSTELLAR music by HANS ZIMMER The Docking Scene is not on the cd why it was left off is anyone's guess. the main theme runs throughout the whole film/soundtrack so the cd is still worth getting. it's just brilliant what Hans Zimmer brings to a movie, seeing him live last year introduced me to another level of live music experience.

Never really been into Clutch, but their latest song played on my Spotify - it’s such a fun/cool song, I’m gonna go explore their older albums now.
Check it out, Clutch - In Walks Barbarella

I think the first singer did a great job. His band Deer Tick apparently have done some Nirvana cover shows for fun before, calling themselves Deervana.

Brand new Slipknot single dropped today. It's cool. I like the little black metalish lead part at two points.
