Not the song I was expecting, for a second I thought wow, why are they covering that.

That Spacehog song would have been the more interesting cover by Lamb of God and Soulfly, tbh imo.

So yeah, guys. Finnish cello wizards Apocalyptica decided to go back to their roots with their newest album, "Plays Metallica, vol. 2". Only Metallica covers, no vocalists (apart from James reciting the lyrics to One). I checked out the album today, and I gotta say... It's one of the best music albums I have ever heard. The arrangements are stellar, and the guys are absolutely on fire.
Rob Trujillo plays bass on a couple of tracks, James recites the lyrics to One like a poem, and The Call of Ktulu features Cliff's original bass track. There are some really cool elements, for example mimicking the tinny drum sound of St. Anger using a cello, some fun song references (such as a Bellz callback in the intro of Ride the Lightning) and a super creepy use of the talkbox wired through the cello in Blackened. Oh yeah, and Dave Lombardo plays drums on that one.
It's just an absolutely fantastic album that emphasizes both the greatness of Metallica's songwriting and the musicianship of the guys in Apocalyptica. Strongly recommended!

I agree with you. The last few Apocalyptica albums have felt kinda lackluster and boring to me, as they've been collaborating with some generic butt rock singers and doing songs in a more radio friendly hard rock style. They've been more successful than ever, and good for them, but it's just not been as exciting as some of their older stuff. But with this album they're really back into form. I hope their next album with original songs will have more of a metal sound, too.

I just a bit randomly clicked on a recommended recent Green Day live video and then a few seconds in I was like WOW, WHAAAT, ISN'T THAT...HIM?! THE GUY WHOSE NAME I CAN'T REMEMBER NOW BUT WHOSE BAND NAME I CAN REMEMBER?! FROM HERE?! HOW RANDOM AND COOL! : O
Edit: Huge grin on my face watching this! Can't imagine how awesome it must have felt for him! Living the dream and it's almost like I feel proud of him or something, haha. : D He has always seemed like a super nice and chill dude here on the forums so I'm so happy for him!
Edit #2: Maybe I was wrong, haha...

Um, er, I'm gonna say I don't think its him bud. Sorry
I watched the vid through, made me smile, the dude really appreciated the opportunity to do that...was great
Edit - we randomly clicked on the youtube vid that was highlighted up on our TV in the lounge the other night. It had our city in the title so we thought we'd take a look. It was this young guy from Sydney and he is visiting the richer areas of our city and introduces himself to the home owners hoping to get a tour of a nice property and ask what they do for a living. These gates open and our GP we have used for years is standing there - WTF?, is Dr Rose! ha. Was weird.
