I don't question the quality but I wasn't paying attention and this was playing, I suddenly thought of van der graff generator, eloy or some similar band that started playing on auto-play then I realized this is Opeth.

My friends recently formed a new band called Deathropy. They play melodic death metal in the style of late 90s In Flames, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity etc. They already have two songs out on Spotify, and more coming this year. Check them out! Serenity:

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are such a brilliant band. It's like they melted everything I like and more in one pot.
Some of you may or may not know, they incorporate some Turkish "sounds" in their songs as well. Fretless guitar partitions and makams(scales) in particular. Sleep Drifter is a good example. Make the lyrics in Turkish and you'll get an almost Anatolian rock song. Instead of fretless, they use a microtonal guitar to get the tones. These scales are common in Anatolian and Turkish folk music.
However my current favourite King Gizzard tune is a bit different. Here it is.

I picked up a couple of SRV CDs at a fair, listening to them now. They are outtakes from the Soul to Soul sessions. Never knew this stuff existed, so quite a find for me. And they were sitting amongst crap for $5 each. Vol 1 and 3, so missing one.... will try find it online I reckon. Shit Stevie is amazing, and he had a great band too.

BigBunny I know you are a big fan of the Killers. They're always playing the same old songs on the radio. What are some cool deep cuts you would suggest? Anything heavy or completely out of left field?
