Some kid was mauled to death by a pitt bull near me. Why are these things legal again? Of the 19 deaths by dogs so far this year, all but 3 have been from pit bulls. I'm sure the ratio of unreported maulings done by Pitts is even higher than that! I mean, it only makes sense that these things should be illegal right...?

Animals are brought up to be evil, blame the owners. Same applies to stabby and thieving kids. Upbringing is to blame. Animals are not evil by default, regard...

It's how they are trained. Making an animal illegal? Really?

Most maulings and deaths come from Pitts that are brought up in loving, well trained homes who had never displayed any sort of aggressive behavior before. They're unpredictable, blood lust animals who were bred to kill...not be pets. People's lives shouldn't depend on the ability of an owner to train his pet. It shouldn't depend on whether an owner is a good person or not. A mistrained Retriever or Schnauzer isn't going to be a mortal threat to anyone....a Pitt Bull will!

So should we just kill them all or put them out in the wild where they will be ever more aggressive because they are trying to survive?

Orange, if a lion will give you a cuddle, then you can be sure it's Upbringing. Arseholes here too train their pikey Pitt Bulls in the same way. The world is full of fuckwits

I get that most of them are good dogs....all dogs are...but the bad pitts are a mortal threat and the fact that you can't really predict which ones will be bad should be a concern to us all!

You can't generalize a whole breed like that. People kill more pit bulls a year than they kill of us. So should we be banned?
Some of us are good people. That doesn't matter though because a few people go around killing things we should all be punished and terminated.
See how dumb of an argument this is?
These dogs are given a bad rap because they are bred to be used in dog fighting and other horrible thing due to their strength. If you ban pit bulls people will just move on to other breeds until we are left with little ankle biters and nothing else. It's not the dogs fault.

As someone who is phobic around dogs... gimme a big cuddly cat/lion any day... I have often found. it is irresponsible owners who cannot control their pets.
Those are the dicks that allow their rotweiller to come bounding towards me. One time.. a border collie almost yanked his owner to the ground in the middle of a busy high street to go for me. I was only walking on opposite side of the street, minding my own biz.. thankfully.. it had a muzzle on - responsible owner.
Another time.. a black labradour, followed me around the whole town - into supermarket.. I tried to lose it.. it ended up in frakking Woolies.. found me again. that freaked me out anaw.
Another time. a cocker spaniel was walked passed a group of us with our kids.. as it passed me?? aye you guessed.. it went for me!
In my experience.. me and dogs don't get on.. but is all breeds. not just pit bulls ;)

Exactly.
Pit bulls are "big and scary" so naturally the people who want to look tough go out and buy them and either neglect them or just train them to be bad dogs. Who's fault is that? Maybe we should be looking at the stupid people who own them just to use them as weapons and not the dog itself who knows nothing else besides what he was told to do.

You can't generalize Drunk Drivers like that. Sober people kill more people a year than Drunks so should we be ban Drunk Driving? Some Drunk Drivers are good people. That doesn't matter though because a few Drunk Drivers go around killing things so should all be punished and terminated? See how dumb of an argument this is? It has nothing to do with raps, it's statistics. Pitt Bulls kill faaar more people a year than any other breed. Every other developed country and a few underdeveloped countries have banned them without issue, why can't we? Someone can train a Rott or German Shepard to attack all they want but the results wont be as devastating and deadly as with a Pitt!

German Sheppard's are used in the military to literally scout and sometimes kill people. They have a working line of dogs specifically bred to do just that. They are far more dangerous than pit bulls. www.inquisitr.com/3075699/german-shepherd-military-dog-puts-the-run-on-isis-during-ambush-in-iraq/There are tons of stories like this, they go up against multiple people and come out without a scratch.

That's the point. A German Shepard has to be TRAINED to kill, for a Pitt....killing comes naturally! They go straight for the jugular and they don't let go until either their "prey" dies or they die or are mortally wounded...

Myth: Pit bulls have a unique bite style consisting of biting down, holding, and shaking. FACT: Biting, holding, and shaking are not unique behaviors for pit bulls. All dogs will perform these behaviors. A dog may “bite and hold” when it is playing or when it has been taught to do this. You have probably seen police K-9 dogs, which are commonly German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois, doing bite work. These dogs are specially trained to bite hard and to not let go even when someone is hitting them. You have also seen many kinds of dogs playing with toys. Tug toys and rope toys are popular because many dogs enjoy grabbing, pulling, and shaking them. This is a natural behavior that all dogs engage in. happypitbull.com/basics/myths-and-facts/
