Djoko is likely off the juice due to the testing at the Olympics. Williams sisters out of the doubles too. Will be interesting to see how Nadal does.

I become interested in the Olympics mainly due to the family discussing it. So far I've seen us get a gold in swimming, offend China, and had 2 coaching staff robbed at knifepoint

peter sagan saying "idgaf" to a road race he likely had not much chance in and entering the x-country mountain biking instead is all i really care about now.
seemingly annamiek van vlauden has two "small fractures" in her back but should recover. that was a horrible horrible looking accident (that, ofc, the tabloids and guardian and sbnation et al had no problem sharing video/pictures/headlines about when we didn't actually know what her condition was...).
i like the javelin too. all of the throwing things events are cool.

And Denmark won a silver medal in the mens road race haven't been able to find out which riders astana have entered but fugslang's vuelta chances improved significantly in the vuelta, should he be picked, after that road race...

Good on him for calling Sun Yang out and not backing down.

What happened?

Our young swimmer Mack Horton won gold, the Chinese fella that took silver was previously found guilty of doping. So when Mack was interviewed after his win and questioned about the rivalry between them, he replied along the lines of him only having a rivalry with competitors not found out to be cheating. China are now planning an attack of our shores....

Most of them are complaining that he spoke up about it. The Chinese obviously do not have the same freedom of speech that Australia enjoys (sometimes).

Nadal was convincing, but complained a lot during the game. Something about the arena I think And Denmark won a silver medal in the mens road race haven't been able to find out which riders astana have entered but fugslang's vuelta chances improved significantly in the vuelta, should he be picked, after that road race... I hope he gets picked, he deserves it. I think he would do fine too

I love the summer olympic games but due to the time difference between Brazil and Turkey, it becomes really hard to follow. And we are not really competitive in any of the categories lately. On top of that, nobody seems to care sports any more in the country. Our daily agenda is filled with politics.
Having said that, I love watching the competitions whenever I catch one and I2m following the mens basketball.

We do have a dedicated channel for the Olympics so I just watch it randomly when I have the time, even if it's just reruns.

I sometimes watch it online at work, and if I'm at home, I just open that channel without thinking which competition is on.

Drug cheats in sports has been a very hot topic for a lot of people here the last few years. Would he have said anything if he had not been asked about the guy, I'm not sure.

Would he have said anything if he had not been asked about the guy, I'm not sure. tbf the chinese dude *did* serve a ban for the incident a couple of years ago and if he's been clean since, well...idk. apparently the australian man refused to shake his hand after the race/on the podium and shouted the "drug cheat" remark at him at some point post-his winning the medalbut i didn't watch the thing happen 'cause, with all respect to the athletes, idgaf about swimming. had it been the other way around and the australian fella was just bitter about finishing second, of course, i'd probs find it beyond funny even i, admirer of heels and bitterness across sport, cannot help but think mack was just a wee bitty unfair here. side note: i demand praise for my alan-p's cockney slang level of euphemism for my avoiding dropping a c-bomb. cracking work for someone who had woken up 5 minutes prior, imo.

I can't even watch the Olympics because NBC has 2 hour time delays and shit and when I am able to catch something, it's like 2 minutes of heavily edited Olympics and 20 minutes of commercials. It's unreal how horribly they're handling them. But nothing will beat those Beijing Olympics and that opening ceremony....the way those thousands of people were so synchronized.....it was.......unnerving

They should probably break-up the female U.S. gymnastics team, it's just not fair. Then again, in your face, China.
