I'm signing up for the Free YouTube premium trial just to check out the after party. No clue what it will be, but I'm sure it'll be cool. Maybe some bonus tracks or covers and a Q&A?

Wow, The new album is so good! I've listened to it 5 times already and it keeps getting better. Top tracks for me are Griftwood, Darkness of the heart of my love, Sunshine, Hunters Moon...fuck they're all good.
The Pokemon intro to Spillways was an initial turn off for me, but after a few listens it just grew on me and the song is awesome.
Respite on the Spitalfields is just sad and heartbreaking also. Lots of sadness on this album. Goosebumps galore.

First Ghost album that I'm really disappointed with. And I'm fully aware that it's just me. The album is receiving praise and really good reviews so I'm happy for TF. It's just completely not my taste. I really really despise cringy 80's hair metal. On the positive note: the production is amazing. It sounds beautiful.

Watch out Jackers, before you know it, those hooks will seek their way into your brain when you least expect it. I fucking hated Spillways at first and now I can't stop playing it. This morning my wife was in the same boat as you. She was like "What is this Bon Jovi/Styx bullshit", and then all of a sudden it just clicked with her, and she was dancing around with the album on repeat and "singing" 😫 along.

Well maybe. But I've been hearing those bon jovi, def leppard and motley crue singles for 20 years and I still hate them.
One thing that's left for me is to wish that on the next records he reminds himself that he loves 60s and 70s music even more. It has aged much better than this cheesy 80s bullshit.
To be fair I'll say this. I predict that with this record he opened the door for himself to the top league. He has a record full of "rock anthems" if you will and headlining festivals is most likely outcome.

Lots of radio hit potential on this one, may push Ghost to the next level of fame, especially with the way more subtle / lack of satanicness. Spillways will most likely be the next release since they played it live at the release ritual and will add it to the setlist I imagine.
And yeah, I was hoping for the 60s kiss the Go Goat vibe for this album. Maybe they'll kill off Copia and introduce a time traveling PApa 1 to come take over.

Hmm not liking this so far ;( Not a fan of the 80 popmetal either.
It needs more spins for sure

From a band called Ghost I expect something darker and more evil but this is more 'Friendly Ghost'.

Hated this album at first. I don't want more pop happy Ghost like the last album was, I want the Ghost of the first two albums. I've been really bored of this band over the last couple of albums, they just hadn't done it for me in recent years.
Then I gave this new album another listen and I became hooked. I've barely stopped listening to it since. I fucking love it. It's completely different but up there with the first two for me.

It definitely has its own vibe, and after a few weeks now, the "OMG it's so 80s" shock is gone. Asides from Spillways, Griftwood and Watchers in the Sky (which is so Ozzy) it's pretty standard Ghost. Kassarion is kind of its own thing, sort of Maidenish. I don't know, I just love this album. I think the shock was due to the first 3 singles being much more standard Ghost and then skipping those songs when the album dropped to get to the newer stuff which was much more chill or 80s. But as a whole, listening from start to finish, it's solid. Those "Scorpions" lead harmonies in Griftwood get me hard every time. Ah, it's all so good.

This one is good. I liked it better than the last one. Some songs are actually very good but overall it is a 7.5 maybe 8/10

They should do what KISS did and get rid of the masks/makeup.

Was thinking that the other day. Or at least go back to Papa 3s look. The most normal looking and accessable one. The latex masks really hinder TBs vocals, and I can't imagine trying to play a show in a mask with out passing out from the heat.

They should do what KISS did and get rid of the masks/makeup. But Kiss put it back on. Ghost are doing the same but cutting out the inefficient middle part

I'm still not 100% sold on the new album... I like it a lot more than I did in the beginning, it's very different and that's not a bad thing. Some times I do miss both the look and sound of their first albums... Oh well, it's not much different from every other band out there changing their sound, Metallica, Volbeat etc etc.

Mastodon and Ghost, what an interesting combination. The Hunter is my favourite Mastodon album / Crack The Skye is joint first since there’s a whisker between them for me.
