At first I didn't really like it, as mentioned it kinda sounds like whatever 80's rock band and not really like Ghost, to me anyways.
But after a few listens it's beginning to fall into place, the riffs are indeed Ghosty and they still have that specific way of adding drums, like they have had for a little while now.
I think what is most off for me is the vocals, I haven't really liked them on anything after Meloria :-/

Cool that it's different for them, and it still has a touch of class or two but overall I don't really enjoy the big mainstream American 80s rock/metal style.

I've been on such a ghost kick lately. I'm currently obsessed with monstrance clock, unholy shit that's a fantastic tune. Here comes the sun is an amazing cover as well.
I'm really regretting not catching them on Halloween a couple years ago. Hopefully they come back to Montreal soon.
Oh, and my little kid has the whole dance number for Rats down packed now, I fucking love it. He wants to be papa this Halloween, I guess we'll go as ghouls.

Agreed though, it's hard to tell what's going on the in songs because it was in a really small club with shitty sound. They play the first real gig of the tour tonight so we should get a better idea of the sound. The first song was previewed in the chapter 3 episode. |
