So we had the first race meeting last weekend at The Bend Motorsport Park. The 120+Million dollar facility has just had the first stage completed which is the 2nd largest purpose built permanent track in the world. It consists of a 7.7km circuit which has many other variations. It also features a kart/drift track, ANDRA spec drag strip and also a speedboat course with the latter two to be completed in 2019. All this in little old South Australia! The track is approximately 80km from the Adelaide CBD in a small town called Tailem Bend. For a motorsport fan like myself its a godsend. The pitlane is a sprawling three tiered structure on the 1km pit straight consisting of hotel rooms, a restaurant and a selection of motoring history on display from formula 1, v8 supercars, a Group C LeMans porsche to name a few. I can see myself spending many weekends here! Here is a few shots I took on the day; This is just a Porsche 911 GTS that I saw parked in the pit area which was placed well for a photo oppurtunity Porsche trucks-Edit by Marty Sutton, on Flickr Classic Alfa Romeo on track for the historic tourers DSC_0114 by Marty Sutton, on Flickr One of the wild Sports Sedans getting a bath after qualifying DSC_0010 by Marty Sutton, on Flickr Car park porn, Mercedes amg DSC_0003 by Marty Sutton, on Flickr

I can see myself spending many weekends here! Weather put me off heading over for a look on the weekend. Was thinking about a camp over for the Saturday night and head back after the GT3s. Mate did the driveday the weekend before and said visibility was a real issue with all the dust. Once the grass fills out things should improve - maybe some trees need to be included as well. Pretty bloody cool we have this here though. Don't you love when everything comes together - The Bend open for business and then Ford recommit to racing here and sign off on the Mustang. Good times ahead!

A few months back there was a bit of an event for a local man who bought a Bugatti Veyron to put in our local motor museum. Quite a few people went to the city to view it before it made its way up through the Adelaide hills to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood where it will live for the next 2+years. I'd love to have so much coin I could drop 2Mil on a car just to stick it in a museum... Cool to put it there for everyone to see though! The owner was an older fella who was along with the group but wasn't driving it I think.

New emissions laws in the UK makes it look like I'm not going to pass the MOT on my old Jeep. So now I need to look at something else. Not getting anything brand new as I don't have my own driveway, but I want something with a bit of a kick and an SUV. Options are Porsche Or the Mazda, this apparently is the closest to a "drivers car" in the SUV range

So Coffee and Cars is a worldwide phenomenon now with big meets basically ever sunday morning all over the world. Here is a couple of pics I caught at one of our meets here in Adelaide, Australia. The backdrop was the old wool sheds in Port Adelaide, a very popular spot for automotive photography.
