you could argue that in fact the French are a seperate race (certainly from the Anglo-Saxons, Iberians etc surrounding them). It's harder with an immigrant country like Canada where ethnicities mixed more freely but one could look into it.

Phil's a pretty decent guy who's said and done some stupid shit.

That's the point I've been trying to make this whole time. I'm not brushing anything off like some people seem to think I am. Phil said and did some stupid shit and was called out because of it. I don't agree with the method of the calling out, because all it's done is turn a lot of people against someone who's done a lot for others, all because he makes stupid mistakes. I'm ethnically mixed. I don't get offended when a drunk asshole says something stupid. I don't make videos about it instead of talking face to face. I don't see that as "heroic". That's just me though.
Phil genuinely looked fucking pitiful and sad, like, lost, in that video, like he was so ashamed of himself, and instead of being lifted by this community that likes to call itself a "family", he's kicked to the ground and then spat on. Now you've got guys who are even bigger assholes writing shit about the guy when he's down(I'm referring to Tommy Vext, who really has no place to be calling anyone out). Someone made a post about having a friend who burned his autographed cd or something. Awesome, he's fucking retarded(look up the definition before coming at me with bullshit about making fun of the mentally handicapped). Congrats.
I don't have a problem with any of you people. I enjoy and welcome diversity and thoughts that don't reflect on my own. What I don't enjoy is the part where someone is ostracized because they aren't circle jerking with everyone else hating on someone. I don't enjoy the part where asshole jokes are made or you're treated like you're just as bad as someone because you're not agreeing with the collective.
Perhaps you should all take a moment to reflect how you treat others and how you expect to be treated. That's the most important lesson that should be learned from this whole thing. It's an oldie, but a goodie.

As for the topic, I would certainly be prepared to give someone a second/additional chance(s) for saying and doing stupid things, and certainly the piling on upon - particularly of non-celebrities and for things that have happened sometime ago - I find somewhat uncomfortable. At the same time, if he (or anyone) just. keeps. doing. it. then I'm less inclined to to give them grace - especially someone like Phil who apologised for this kind of nonsense just a few months and has done it again, then either he's genuinely awful and believes them or keeps saying terrible things because it's #edgy or something. Of course a fair number (and of course, myself included) have said very silly and offensive things in the past. I'm not sure very many people are saying otherwise! Many of us have learnt otherwise, and Mr Phil so appears to know better keeps repeating them, idk why we should sympathise or rush to defend him again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Certainly we hope that he finally knows that these things are bad! |
