Moonspell tomorrow.
Seen them loads of times, but tomorrow is a one-off show at my local theater (200 ppl max) in honour of a local "character" who passed away from cancer, profits reverting to a cancer foundation.

November should be a blast. I got Alestorm, and about a week later, King Diamond coming to town! Both around $40.

I saw Kris Kristofferson & The Strangers last week. First show of the tour. I don't want to say disappointed but it was a little underwhelming. I had an extra concern because I had convinced my dad to attend too...someone who does NOT drop $130 on anything easily, let alone a live concert that he can't use tomorrow. I really wanted him to enjoy it.
Unfortunately Kris' voice has lost power and range since last time I saw him play. Last time was prob 4 years ago and he played acoustic and sang solo - carried the show on his own no probs. The Kris I saw last week would not be able to do that anymore. I don't like to say it but thats the reality I think. Don't be too shocked, the man is 83 years old now and he still has his humour and if he can still make his way around the globe singing his songs then I'll be there cheering him on. He is a legend no doubts. He's picking notes lightly on his git, no strumming and its turned low while the keyboard carries the song along with the violin guy (good voice on him) and he used a screen on stage to help with lyrics (assuming here, couldn't see screen properly). Dare I say a few songs had a cabaret vibe to them - the drum pattern chosen for Sunday Morning Coming Down was not right to these ears - but as the Strangers were originally Merle Haggards band, they threw in a few Merles songs too (sung by voilin guy) which was a nice bonus (dad enjoyed that surprise). Show was not as long as expected either, after an intermission the second set went for about 30 minutes compared to maybe 80 for the first act. Still, thats nearly 2 hours all up for a man of 83 and nobody seemed to be too surprised when the lights were turned up.
Turns out dad was glad he went and saw the show. He used to play too so he knows what it takes to entertain a full house like Kris did. Factor in the mans age and you really need to put it in perspective and appreciate he's still around doing his thing. Not sure there's much hope for a return, but I think I'd go again if given the chance. You never know if you don't go.

I've seen KISS a few times and its always been a fun show. Never seen them with the replacements though, so not sure how much that would change things....they are good players just not Ace / Peter. (Ace is a big loss here for me) Last time around....you should check it out Alan considering its a festival ticket EDIT - maybe I did see them without Ace/Peter when they played with Motley Crue here. I was up front for MC but was way way back for KISS and hardly saw shit and was more interested in the beers and motorsport that weekend. I do remember a fire on stage and Paul sang Light My Fire while the fireys sorted it out

So Metallica cancels, now KISS have pulled out of the Australian leg. Bought Legacy of the Beast ticket yesterday - which month will Maiden announce to us they are bailing??? I did see Gomez play the other night. Played their second album Liquid Skin in full for 20th anniv, and as it is my favourite of theirs it was um, fucking awesome!

I saw Volbeat last Sunday in Vienna. I got very lucky, I was there for business and Danko Jones / Baroness / Volbeat were playing. I was not sure if I could make it but luckily my work obligations ended in time.
Although I missed Danko Jones and Baroness ( I was most curious about them to be honest), I was able to catch Volbeat. I got into the venue after the gig started but it is OK.
They were pretty good but I'm not a huge fan of them. I like their heavier side but rockier side does not do much for me...

Saw Slipknot in Helsinki. Corey had a broken foot probably, he was limping and you could see he was in alot of pain. He told that oxygen tank fell on his foot prior to coming up to the stage. Dude still gave his best and broke into tears during a speech. Also during Sic the moshpit was probably biggest I've ever seen.

Queen w/ AL tonight.
Bought tix at last minute. I caught their set during the recent Bushfire Concert (They played the same set they performed at Live Aid all those years ago if anybody cares - I thought that was pretty cool)

Iron Maiden were supposed to be playing here this weekend. Concert postponed so kept my ticket for the new date. Today, the update is: TOUR CANCELLED Of course the Credit card I used just expired so a refund will likely be a headfuck.
Fuck you CV19.....I want a pub meal and a live show.

So tickets I had to see bands in 2020 roll over to 2022 now. Not attending live music events is something I really miss however after a year of excruciating pain and test and more tests it probably has been a blessing. Now I am being treated fingers crossed I am back to fighting fit by time they all start up again. Until then, I have ( in the comfort of my own home): Korn global stream event on April 24th CoF 12th May

Theres an Iron Maiden tribute show happening in my city this Friday. They only play songs from 80-84 so really would like to attend but I've got so much other shit on over the next 7 days that I am reluctant to add any more. The band is from here so I'm confident I will get another chance for a look. Keen to see songs from the first 2 albums performed live.

Do they just play the songs? Or do they dress up and put on a hardcore tribute?

Do they just play the songs? Or do they dress up and put on a hardcore tribute? Not sure. There is a mention of light and video enhancements in the email I got but nothing to suggest its a full on tribute other than them calling it an Iron Maiden Experience.
The singer is in another local band and would definitely do alright with Bruce material. I think a mate is still going so should get a rundown on how it was
