Slayer with Anthrax/Obituary/Lamb of God, next month.
Meeting the Anthrax guys before the gig again, so should be cool, looking forward to catching Obituary and Slayer, not too keen on Lamb of God.

I went to the One Man Riot speaking gig with Scott Ian the other month. Nice guy with a bunch of great stories to tell. He did tend to drag some of his story-telling out though which kinda killed the show towards the end. Too many details for something funny, that you weren't there for, dulled the story a little. Still a good night out, even though the missus was pissed off with me coz the show went on waaaay longer than I expected and she had to wait around for bloody ages.

Sounds like a keeper there, mate I met him last year when Anthrax played up here, didn't say much, but was friendly enough, Frank, Joey and Charlie were all awesome though.

I saw Pain of Salvation last month. It was incredible. I had tickets to Greg Howe gig but we couldn't go.
There was also a Youn Sun Nah concert but it was not possible for us to go. It was unfortunate because I really wanted to go to that concert.
Next: At The Gates. Hopefully I can make it.

Saw, Slayer, Anthrax and Obituary last night. Fucking awesome, met the Anthrax guys again before the gig, really nice guys, to be honest. Got a signed setlist and they signed my For All Kings vinyl.... also ended up catching Frank's pick Lamb of God were also on the bill, but, as I wasn't bothered about them, so hit the bar for a few drinks, seemed to be the right choice! more power to those who like em though. The other 3 bands all crushed it though, brutally good. Although, was kinda disappointed Anthrax were on before Lamb of God though, think they should have been billed before Slayer, which, LoG were. Great night though. 10/10

I saw Paul Dempsey at the Melbourne Recital Centre the other night. He's the singer/guitarist for Australian rock band Something For Kate. This was a solo acoustic set in an proper acoustic theater, and it sounded incredible. Paul Dempsey was just amazing. I've never been to a gig where the sound was so clear and the singing was so precise yet passionate. The support act, Ro, was also outstanding. Definitely in my top 5 gigs. Maybe top 3!

Three weeks until Slayer/Lamb of God/Anthrax/Obituary. I haven't seen Anthrax or Obituary before, and it's been 9 years since I last saw Lamb of God. Slayer I saw 4 years ago, but they're always good, and this will most likely be the last time I see them. Can't wait!

Good to see ya posting here It sure was! I lurk every now and then but life is too hectic these days to post much. But I'm around! Emperor have announced two shows in Australia where they'll be playing the entire Anthems album. Emperor is one of those bands I always wished I could have seen live. How can I not go? Tickets on sale in a couple of days. I need to find $85 fast.

Emperor have announced two shows in Australia where they'll be playing the entire Anthems album. Emperor is one of those bands I always wished I could have seen live. How can I not go? Tickets on sale in a couple of days. I need to find $85 fast. I saw Emperor this past summer. Right before they where scheduled to play, there was a crazy, apocalyptic storm that came in out of nowhere (it was actually quite frightening as I thought people where going to start panicking and stampede when the hail would start cracking heads open) anyways, the wife and I made our way out of the crowd and to our locker cabin, squeezed in amongst the other people, and rode out the storm. Emperor was delayed, but the storm passed and so we made our way to the other stage for Emperor. The coolest thing ever was seeing them play their set with the storm just behind the stage, about a mile away now, the lighting was unreal, it was epic. You couldn't have asked for a better light show then that. All the stage set up with pentagrams and red lightings, with bolts of real lightning shooting down from the sky behind them every 5 seconds. Truly as epic as is gets.

That sounds pretty damn epic! Impossible where they're playing down here, but I'm still looking forward to it. It just sucks it's not until April. But I've got my ticket so I'm set. Anthems has always been my favourite album of theirs. How was their performance?

Amazing. Emperor and Alestorm where the highlight of the festival.
I'd much prefer to see them in doors, but given the atmosphere of the whole storm and stuff, it was a show I'll never forget.

I went to see Reef this week Now..I am not that familiar with their stuff but bf wanted to go. There we are in small venue, front barrier, sorted. Was a great night, full of energy from band, esp singer. Gary Stringer leans over barrier and winks at me whilst giving me a thumbs up then later does same again. Then stands on barrier singing right in front of is with (my bf's words) his crotch in your face. Hahaha worth it just to see bfs face 😊

The night was glorious. Obituary I wasn't really familiar with beforehand, but they were fine. Anthrax was awesome, too bad they only had time for 7 songs. I'd absolutely love to see them headlining. Caught In A Mosh, Got The Time, Be All, End All... Good stuff. Lamb of God really got the house going, starting with Omerta, Ruin and Walk With Me In Hell. The circle pit during Laid To Rest and Redneck was MASSIVE. First time I saw the not play Black Label, though.
Slayer was absolutely fantastic. Demmel fit the part very well. The stage setup was really cool, with lots of pyros and nice backdrops. The playlist was the exact same they have played all tour long, but very good. At least one song from each album. The highlights for me were Disciple, Dittohead, Dead Skin Mask, Hell Awaits and of course Raining Blood. And Angel of Death was a magnificent way to end the final gig in Finland. Fantastic concert.

Slayer just announced being the headliner for Heavy Montreal 2019 this morning, for their last show ever in Québec. It will be nuts. The festival site is saying it will be a historic event like no other. Can't wait. I was pissed that I couldn't go to the gig a few months back and figured I'd never get to see them again. This will be one hell of show.

With Paul Dempsey there weren't really many slow, pretty ballads. It was more upbeat with robust chords and powerful singing. But it's impressive the way the natural acoustics of the venue filled out the sound so it never sounded empty or thin.
