Listen up guys !
This thread is for wild speculations about the actual nature of the new Metallica album ! Not when it will come out - just the title, how many songs, what kind of songs, the artwork etc...
Then when it comes out we can see who was closest and who was way off base !!!!
I'll start.
For some reason I predict that the album title will be Three Words Long
GO !
You may also post track titles and lengths and artwork if you wish to see who gets anything spot on.

It'll sound like a mixup of Metallica, Load, and Death Magnetic. Some song titles I predict are Lords of Summer, Dukes of Fall, Kings of Winter, Princes of Spring, and possibly the heavy hitter Until Kirk's Phone Awakes.

Like I've been saying for 8 years. Death Magnetic 2. Not it'll be called that, but, it'll basically be that.

9 tracks, all 7-9 minutes long with one 5 minute bone crusher in there. One "power ballad", one megathrasher, and one instrumental. However, I guess that it will be close to Death Magnetic, however have a few songs that maybe switch up the formula a bit.

Title: 2 words
Album Length: 72 minutes
Shortest song: 4:30-5:00
Longest song: 8:30-9:00
Tracks- 10
Track 1- Fast, energetic song
Track 2- "Epic" song (Title track)
Track 3- Slow, sludgy, heavy song.
Track 4- Semi-Ballad
Track 5- Mixture of track 1/2 (Fast, but "epic")
Track 6- Mid tempo groove based song
Track 7- "Outside the box" song
Track 8- The track we all skip
Track 9- Instrumental
Track 10- Thrashy song
Overall sound- DM with some Loadish elements. Improved production.
General consensus- Good album. Production is decent (nothing mindblowing, but decent), performances are mostly good (Kirk still ends up using too much wah, and James struggles to hit some of the notes since the album is likely in E standard). Probably sits better with those of us who enjoy the Loads than those of us who want them to be more "metal" (Looking at you, HR)

Okay. Here is so more titles and elaboration.
Metallica - Last Life
1. Devolve (Fast 6 minute thrasher that starts with a 1 minute soft intro of bass and piano) 2. Destruction of Society (8 minute epic with a slow change right before the last chorus) 3. Bleed Souls (Starts off with a chaotic 1 minute intro, before changing into a slow but extremely heavy grinder. Last two minutes have a speed change where it starts to thrash and give an epic guitar solo and go back into the chaotic intro the end the song off) 4. Last Words (Starts off with just James singing with an acoustic guitar for about 2 minutes. Later we move to electric for the chorus, and have clean guitar verses with the whole band, then another chorus until we get a mildly heavy section with one verse, and then it goes insane with 3 minutes of loud, heavy, unforgiving, fast soloing then we get 1 more acoustic guitar verse) 5. Congregation of the Unfaithful (A groovy mid-paced heavy yet slow kicker. Kinda thinking if 2X4 was on Death Magnetic. 5 minute song. No solo.) 6. Noose Hangs (A super fast thrasher, going at a mile a minute. Contains a 3 minute solo section) 7. Writing On The Wall (Starts off with one minute of eerie spacy guitar with an occasional burst of heaviness until the heaviness consumes the song, drums kick in and we get a heavy riff that crushes hard. After that, it goes into a spoken word verse with no guitar. The heavy guitar comes in again for the chorus. This repeats until we get to the bridge which has heavy guitars come in and go on a long, loud heavy stream of guitar madness and solos. After that, we go back into another minute of eerie spacy guitar and burst of heaviness, with the burst heavier and with drums) 8. Bodymade Gravestone (Standard fare that could've easily fit anywhere on Death Magnetic.) 9. Above All Treason (5 minute relentless thrashfest. Includes a "HOLY FUCK" solo and a bass/spoken word interlude.) 10. All The Lives Wasted (11 minute song. Starts with 2 minutes of slow, creepy guitar before busting into a slow yet heavy sort-of-thrash song. This goes on for about 4 minutes until it goes silent and we get a 3 minute solo section which is absolutely INSANE on all fronts. Even James may lend a short solo. Then we get 2 minutes of the intro repeated, except way more distorted and with creepy noises and barely audible whispering in the background. Song fades out.)

The first single will catch people off guard, in that it will be 4-5 minute half ballad in the same vein as Until it Sleeps.

10 songs. Mostly 5-7 minutes in length. One around the 4 minute mark, two at 8 minutes plus. Album title will reference the fact it's their tenth in some way (much like Mastodude's mock up).

The first single will catch people off guard, in that it will be 4-5 minute half ballad in the same vein as Until it Sleeps. I am fine with this. People will probably be expecting that Was Just Your Life II as the first single. But the first single of Death Magnetic was Day That Never Comes...

I had a joke tracklisting I wrote down like a year ago and kind of wanted to post here but never did. Not sure if I still have it somewhere.
Anyway, it'll be Death Magnetic II. Possibly with slightly shorter average song length and probably (hopefully) with significantly better production.
Also the album cover will be primarily blue.

I think it'll be the album that should have came between Reload and St. Anger.

Gonna throw this one out there... No Didgeridoos on the new album Actually, there is an Australian band (I forgot the name) that uses didgeridoos. They sound like Australian Drowning Pool.
