He was honestly a really nice guy. He had a HUGE line up of people waiting to meet him and the guy spends a few minutes with everybody. It wasn't like, OKAY NEXT! I told him he was the reason why I want to be an actor, and he showed his encouragement, "Well, I hope you get to the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow."
I kept things low key and casual, and I think he appreciated it. He didn't have to be "on" for me. There were people talking to him, and it almost seemed like they were trying one up him.

I got it as a birthday gift when it was released on VHS in the 90s and I've been watching it every birthday ever since... if memory serves, at least the last decade every year. Face/Off has the same story...

Face/Off has the same story... Same here! I remember being at my Grandfather's house when I was like 5 or 6 (whenever it became available to rent) and I guess my parent's or uncle had rented Ace Ventura: Pet Detective to keep me occupied and that opening sequence changed my life. I became a huge Jim Carrey fan after that scene!

I used to watch Once Bitten all the time when I was a kid, the Pet detective came out and Carrey got super huge. I love the Cliff Hanger bit with the Racoon in the second one.
Also, as the huge Jim fan that you are, you must have seen that movie, High Strung (I think that's what its called) where Jim plays Death who is stalking this guy who is just complaining the whole movie, allmost like a stand up bit. It was really great and no one I've met has ever heard of it.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind might be my favourite movie with him. Dumb and Dumber obviously is a classic, too.

Also, there was a Canadian film he did called Introducing Janet, latter re-titled Rubberface. Just pure 80's cheese! :p

Wow, I've never gotten that before. Thank you! I've been trying to get into acting and the last 6 years, I really gained a lot of weight and so I kept hearing "Jack Black" and I hated it! Dropped close to 70 lbs and so the actors people see in me have been getting more complimentary, ah ha!

Oh yeah - when you see people talking to famous people and it's the Joe Public that's acting like they're the famous one.
