I can decide if the great music, gorgeous cinematography, food that looks unique, interesting, and delicious, and they overall fantastic production values makes up for the absurd level of pretentiousness in every second of this series.
What's the consensus all up in and around these parts?

Chef's Table?
Sounds like an awful reality cooking show that Hetfield's Rage would love.

A docu-series where each episode focuses on a world-renowned chef and why they are the greatest person to ever exist.

It was made by the same people who made Jiro Dreams of Sushi, which is fan-fucking-tastic. I assume because Jiro is a Japanese sushi chef and if a Japanese person shows even the slightest bit of pretension a samurai pops up to administer seppeku.

I haven't seen Chef's Table, is it a US thing? Anyway, the best food related programme i've seen is Italy Unpacked. Andrew Graham-Dixon would explore the art of a region of Italy and Giorgio Locatelli would cook up the local cuisine. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03pn297
