I was thinking how weird it must be for someone like Rob who was a fan of Metallica and learned all their songs and now plays the actual songs in the actual band.
Not like in a cover band either. In the actual band.

Jason too. Probably more so as he seems to be the bigger fanboi.

Yeah, I don't really think Rob was that big of a fan, he probably just respected them a lot

Jason was the realest. Wish they had given him another shot back in the SKOM days. Ah well, Rob's pretty cool.

Jason was the realest. Wish they had given him another shot back in the SKOM days. He was the most phony out of all of them!

Newsted the album was the reason that he didn't have more writing credits in the band.
Plus calling the band "homos" for trying to work out their inter-band relationships.
He was trying to hard too be a tr00 metalhead.
He assumed when he came back as a solo artist that he'd be huge and universally accepted and when he wasn't - he slinked off back to his cave.
But he was still my favourite bass player.

Jason is the future, Metallica is the past. Haha, it seemed to that way at the time. Bob is hilarious in that scene also. Elvis has left the building. Haha!

Newsted's first single was the most generic " my first metal riff " i've ever heard in my life. It was like a watered down Slayer and Motorheaad parody.

$10 says he'll be doing interviews and shit again soon, or trying to sell us something.

Thanks. Wonder if he plays on it too, or a writing credit ?

I listened to the full version over on the other board, its OK, nothing great. I don't think I'll go out of my way to ever listen to it again, but that's just me. Its just weird that James\Metallica do these kind of collaborations. What's next, Lars singing on a Phil Collins track or something.

Too over processed for me. Which sucks considering how great all of them are at singing. I really couldn't tell who was who half the time.

I like the Heart collaboration. And no it's not comparable to Lars guesting on a Phil Collins album.
Like them or not, Heart has plenty of heavy music in their catalog, and Ann Wilson is arguably the best female rock vocalist ever. Yes they released some crap in the 80s, but one of the things I like about them is they own up and admit that some of it was crap and that Capitol Records turned them into a corporate band. Even so, they probably did hair metal about as well as anyone else did during that time.

My first listen I was whatever about it, then I gave it another listen, now it's been stuck in my head all week. So catchy.
