Happy 13th anniversary St. Anger! First Metallica album I bought alongside Kill 'Em All in 2003. Way to start my journey hahaha.

The album that got me into Metallica. 13 years already, that's nuts.

Still remember the launch party where we were shown the DVD some weeks before album release. Lars and Rob was there + free bar. Great times, still love the album, It means a lot to me.

Best enjoyed in a shit mood at loud volume. That's when it makes most sense to me.
Also it's impossible to play this album loud and not air-drum.

Lars best playing ever is on this album, nothing compares, its like a whole other entity stepped inside his little Danish body and played like no other before. Stupid snare ruined what is the highlight of his career. I don't mind it though, I like its sound on the album, very tribal, very caveman. 13 years, crap, feels like yesterday.

Where was Torban when they were recording ReLoad? Lars keeps him locked in his dungeon for the most part. Hence the beard and long hair.

Frantic came on shuffle the other day and I was reminded how much I like that song.

SKOM, the main riff, has to be the catchiest thing they've ever written asides from Sandman. That fucker is always playing somewhere in the back of my mind. St Anger has so many little ear worms through out the album but SKOM is by far the one that gets the gold.

I like the My World main riff.
In fact - every riff in My World is killer.
Especially the one in 3/4 over which Lars plays in 4/4
The one that goes
3 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 3 - 0 -5 - 6 - 3 - 0

Frantic came on shuffle the other day and I was reminded how much I like that song. I really like a couple SA songs, but I just never get why a lot of people like this song. There's nothing especially bad about it, at least nothing that isn't just a symptom of being on St. Anger, but I find it so horribly boring. Nothing about it excites or interests me. SKOM, the main riff, has to be the catchiest thing they've ever written asides from Sandman. SKoM also doesn't grab me much at all. I really like Feeling and Amber, and can sometimes enjoy St. Anger, My World and Shoot Me, everything else I could very well never hear again.

I kind of wish they would remake some of the better songs/parts of this album, like the acoustic version of all within my hands. I enjoyed that very much and think there are some really good things in St. Anger, but I can't bring myself to listen to the original (not remastered version) anymore.
