What are peoples feelings towards stuff like this ? They've done it plenty the last few years. I gotta say, I wish they would stay away from it, if feel slightly embarrassed by it actually. Is it popular in the states, or does people just kinda about it ? This is just plain overkill

When I see things like this I want to hide under a duvet.
Especially with Kirk. Most of the crowd probably have no idea who either of them are and probably wondering why they got this amateur guitarist playing the Star Spangled Banner out of key.

This is a tradition for the SF Giants and suppose to be an honor to be asked to perform, I think a few other SF bands also do it, like the Dead. I think it is pretty popular in the US to do the national anthem in R & R, but yeah the first couple years it was great but it is getting a little tired now, I didn't even watch it and they were playing my team.

I don't really think much about Kirks performance, I think it's as good as any, I doubt you can hear it very clearly in the stadium anyways.

It's obviously to generate more cash for Metallica Inc. Never mind about releasing new music.

I like the pics of the huge rigs James and Kirk are both using. Couldn't just plug a guitar into an amp with a mic in front.

Supporting one certain team in public makes all the fans of other teams not like you...

Seems like a lot of over reacting going on here.
Their home town team asked them to come celebrate with them for a night, so they did. The Warriors also did the same last year. It's cool for San Fran, it's cool for Metallica fans, it's cool for Metallica...so what's the problem here?

The most important thing here is that THEY want to do it so it's fine by me. Because I don't give a tiny rat's ass tbh.

Someone has to say it, so I will:
Funny how they have time for things like this instead of some new material...

It's fun for them and fun for the fans. If they like it I don't have a problem with it. You people pretending to be embarrassed acting just as silly as the people who say that Metallica sold out in the '90s. Why do you give a shit? Guitar covers of the US national anthem always sound terrible. Especially if it's Jimi Fucking Hendrix. So edgy.

I hate all of you and your hipster opinions. ---- Guitar covers of the US national anthem always sound terrible. Especially if it's Jimi Fucking Hendrix. Your opinions concerning guitarists are awful, just awful.

Keywords being first time... They are overdoing it by now, orange amps and guitars, talking to the crowd in the breaks etc etc. I don't see how this is cool for Metallica fans either... Yeah if a few randomly was at the stadium, but other than that ? I don't think 99,9% of the fan base gives a flying fuck about it. Btw I'm not mentioning this because I think they should use all their time on the new record (like some morons in this thread suggests), this doesn't make the new record come any faster nor later and I'm fine by them doing what ever they want. I just don't like particularly this, never liked stuff like that and I always cringe no matter what celebrity they stuff in there.
